Wind Mobile is very much new and upcoming with BlackBerry smartphone this year. We’re happy to see that they are catching up as far as device variety goes.  Last we heard from them was that they are working on hard on getting the BlackBerry PlayBook, which doesn’t indicate any confirmations at all, but still nice to hear.

Aside from all that, it looks like the BlackBerry Bold 9780 has hit up their inventory system as seen in the leaked screenshot via BGR above.  Wind Mobile isn’t the first to rock the Bold 9780 as other carriers including Rogers already have it.  The Bold 9780 is a refresh of the Bold 9700 where it now has 512MB of memory, comes stock with BlackBerry 6 OS, and rocks a 5MP camera.

We heard bits and pieces of the very Bold 9700 series lookin’ BlackBerry Curve 8980.  It’s most likely going to replace the BlackBerry Curve 8910 we see in Asia as we’ve seen leaked images of the 8980 branded for China Mobile already in the past.  There’s nothing crazy to see about simulator as it’s only running OS 5.0.  There’s no telling if it will ever support BlackBerry 6 as we don’t know much of anything on this device other than a few specs: 256MB memory, it runs EDGE with no 3G, 480 x 360 resolution, 3.2MP camera, trackpad, WiFi, GPS, and supports UMA.

Carrier billing was announced earlier this year for BlackBerry App World, but not every carrier signed onto the new service right off the wagon.  According to a tip over at BlackBerry Cool, carrier billing has reached Telus customers in Canada.  Now you can purchase applications, and have the invoice hit your month to month cell phone bill in the mail.  Not so sure if this is a great idea if you get all shopping frenzy, but the option is there for those who prefer that way over credit cards and PayPal.

I was really expecting Verizon to launch out BlackBerry 6 first before Sprint with all the promotion they’ve been doing and user upgrade guides that hit the retail stores.  I guess I was wrong.  Sprint has gone ahead and officially launched OS 6.0.0.415 officially for the BlackBerry Bold 9650.  Last night I saw there was a wireless update available, but the desktop link wasn’t available just yet.  So here it is for those who want to manually install it on their Bolds whether it be for Verizon or Sprint.

We just let you know about the new AIM app that supported Facebook Chat, and have covered other applications in the past that had it too. The Jared Company has recently launched an application called FaceChat that gives you Facebook chat absolutely free.  Features include:

  • Chat simply, easily, seamlessly on Facebook from your BlackBerry®. Anyone can do it.
  • See who’s on line after logging on to your FB account.
  • See on-line friends’ Facebook avatars so you know who’s on the grid at a glance.
  • Carry on multiple chats simultaneously with a clean interface so you know who’s talking.
  • Once logged in FaceChat will give you a vibrating notification letting you know one of your Facebook friends sent you a message.

Again, FaceChat is free to download as it is ad supported.  If you’re looking for a quick Facebook chat fix, then FaceChat is perfect just for that.  Click the link below to download free at App World.

It looks like AOL has released their own BlackBerry application, beyond the native one we currently already have.  The AIM BlackBerry client allows you to do what you normally can on their desktop client (except video chat of course) where this new AIM app lets you do a lot more.  Features include:

  • Chat with people using AIM or Facebook
  • Update Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, foursquare and more using the built-in Lifestream features
  • Send IMs or SMS text messages
  • Post photos using your camera or upload a saved photo
  • Share your location when updating your status

So if you’re not a huge fan of the current AIM app for BlackBerry, you should definitely check out this one.  There’s premium applications out there for Facebook chat, so that feature being free here is a good plus for this new one.  Foursquare has grown quite popular among third party apps as well where we aren’t forced to use the native app in order to check into places.  As for MySpace – is anyone still using it? For those who are, you can continue MySpacin’ with the new AIM app.

I just got another promotion email from RIM, this time it looks to be a survey to weigh out how much you love BlackBerry.  There’s a scale of 1 to 10 within the email that takes you to the full survey when any of those numbers are clicked.  I’m hyping it up by calling it a survey, but it asks you what BlackBerry you own and how likely you are to recommend BlackBerry to a friend.  So help RIM out and fill one out.  Many of you are still at work so you should very much look forward to this.

So we’re still waiting on Verizon Wireless to finally unleash BlackBerry 6 OS for the BlackBerry Bold 9650 and BlackBerry Curve 9330.  The other day, the Curve 9300 got an official 6.0 OS from Starhub, but nothing for the Bold 9650 yet.  In any case, Verizon retail stores are getting these BlackBerry 6 upgrade guides which pretty much show some general specifics of BlackBerry 6 and how to check if you have the latest OS or not.  The website mentioned was blackberry.com/OS6upgrade which does not seem to be a valid post at the moment.  Perhaps as BlackBerry 6 officially launches for big red we’ll be seeing that page go live.
