Themes »

We’re not encouraging any of you to be posers by putting up themes on your BlackBerry to emulate Android or iOS. I have to admit, there’s a few nice themes out there that are based on both those operating systems, and it doesn’t seem so bad on the BlackBerry, since you still have BlackBerry OS underneath it all. So here’s a theme in the Deal of the Day section of the day that pretty much makes your BlackBerry homescreen look just like the HTC Incredible. For only 2 bucks, you can grab this theme.

While I was watching one of the BlackBerry commercials we previously posted, this one came up as a parody commercial. It’s not by RIM or anything, but I found it funny as it simulates what life would be like if your BlackBerry was a real person. I guess it can get quite annoying, and I’m certainly thankful my BlackBerry is only a BlackBerry and not a person.

As promised on Twitter, MTS has officially launched the BlackBerry Style 9670 today. We weren’t sure of the pricing plans as they weren’t anywhere to be found days ago so this is how it goes:
- 36-month contract – $99.99
- 24-month contract – $199.99
- 12-month contract – $424.99
Canada sure loves its three year contracts. We’re not going to get into that, but you can cop the Style for only 100 bucks.
The BlackBerry Style 9670 comes with BlackBerry 6 OS , 512MB of memory, an 8GB micro SD card, and of course comes in flip clamshell style with a full QWERTY keyboard and a 360 x 400 display with a 240 x 320 display on the outside when closed.

Yesterday we ran a poll to see the popularity of BlackBerry News Feeds among Berry users. I have to admit, the results were really surprising. There was a lot of disappointment the day it launched, so that made me lean more towards users voting “no.” I don’t hate News Feeds at all, but I do feel that it needs work as it doesn’t match up to others we’ve got – not even to Viigo which was previously acquired by RIM. So any way here’s the poll results:
- Yes – 51.85%
- No – 48.15%
That’s really slim, and pretty much leaves it at a 50/50 there. Again, my predictions was seeing a lot more voting “no” just by what we’ve seen in the comments and on Twitter on how Berry users wanted more out of the application. Also, keep in mind it’s still early and the application has just launched so it might be a matter of time until people make up their minds on this one.

Keep in mind this one’s leaked so download and install at your own risk! Below is quite a few download mirrors you can grab the OS from.

You’ve seen snippets of this commercial in the past but for those curious enough, here’s the extended version of the Diplo BlackBerry Torch 9800 commercial. I said it before and I’ll say it again – I’m loving these “love what you do” BlackBerry commercials where they show people of all sorts of professions and how they use BlackBerry. We’ve seen DJs, shoemakers, bands, artists, and more in these commercials and how BlackBerry helps them socially and professionally. Go BlackBerry!

I was shocked to see OS 5.0.0.1030 come as an OS update for my BlackBerry Bold 9650 from Sprint. What happened to BlackBerry 6? I think things are getting really delayed with it, and it needs to officially release already without all these baby steps in OS 5.0! If you’re on the Sprint network, you’ll notice a new wireless update on your Bold 9650 for OS 5.0.0.1030. If you don’t have any 6.0 leaks (which I’m sure all of you do), then you can have this stable latest 5.0 right here from Sprint.

Just the other day, Sprint officially launched OS 6.0.0.407 for the BlackBerry Style 9670, and now it looks like another leak has surfaced. This one’s 6.0.0.413, where we don’t really expect to see much of a difference here, but you never know! If you currently have a Style in hand and want to explore the OS, feel free to do so and drop us a line on changes you see. Below are two download mirrors:
