This is definitely what RIM needs to continue doing.  If there are any complaints about BlackBerry smartphones now, it’s the applications.  Many outsiders have seen BlackBerry apps from a distance, taking it all for granted thinking there are no higher end ones with graphics and effects (and whatever else gets it up for people these days).  Here we see the Urbanspoon application for BlackBerry being used by food critics.  This is the second time we see a super app get a spotlight in an official BlackBerry commercial.  Let’s keep it up!

Dropbox has been official on the BlackBerry for sometime now, and FileScout has updated last week support its integration.  As there was no change log, we received an email tip from Tom letting us know that this new version of FileScout integrates Dropbox with it.  So while browsing files, you’ll be able to drop stuff into your Dropbox easily all in one application screen.  Hit the jump for the full change log (it’s quite long) or click the links below to purchase the premium FileScout or download the freebie.

Well the we have already been jabbed at with the whole Angry Birds for BlackBerry in the past.  It was quite funny, and a new joke has surfaced now.  This one shows the very popular photo sharing application called Instagram would be like on BlackBerry.  Let’s see what jokes come forward after RIM releases some of the latest and greatest this year (PlayBook, Storm 3, Torch 2) :)

Beatrice let us know about a new Facebook application RIM has put out for you all to check out.  The theme is “what was your 2010 like?”  Basically this allows you to view photos of yours and statuses all through a BlackBerry PlayBook giving you a rough idea of the user interface and how awesome the tablet is.  Have any of you checked it out yet? If not, click below.

And here’s the last one, the BlackBerry Torch 2.  BGR put up this image showing the device all around.  The image we saw yesterday looked very much like the Torch we know today, except with a different chrome finish around the border.  In this picture we see that the Torch 2 remains the same body style as the original Torch but rocks “cooler” lighter colors.

Well, we already assumed this was going to be the next BlackBerry Bold, but we did not see any branding of it until now.  BGR rolled out extended images of the leaked devices today showing more angles this time around and it surely says “Bold” on the back.  So there you have it – the Dakota is the Bold, just gets a larger display and touchscreen.

Yesterday, details emerged for the BlackBerry Curve, codename Apollo.  In the specs, the Apollo was said to have a camera flash along with the 5MP camera.  Today, BGR shows some more images of the devices showing the backside which only displays a camera, with no flash visible at all.

So the Curve did get some upped specs here but no camera flash as the rumored specs said.  Not a big deal, I know.  Just a camera flash but it should have one. Boo.

Here’s a new app I spotted in our app store that’s actually quite handy.  Basically it allows you to rename your application menu icons with whatever you’d like whether it’s in another language or just a different name.  Some apps such as Calendar and BBM cannot be changed as they’re locked but everything else works like a charm.
