Well that’s what the rumor going around says. It’s not so far off since we heard at DEVCON about some cross platform compatibility as far as apps went. Firstly, that’s some pretty exciting news if RIM can get their PlayBook and mobiles to support Android applications.  The rumor is that RIM is considering to use Dalvik virtual machine for their QNX OS on the PlayBook and mobiles, which is the same as what Android currently uses.  With that said, it’ll allow any Android application to run on RIM’s QNX based devices.

Fortunatus is an application at the PocketBerry Store with the following description:

When you start Fortunatus you will see a picture of a beautiful diamond. You can show this diamond to your friends to show you are rich. It is also possible to chat with your fellow wealthy colleagues whom also bought the program. The chat function shows real-time how many other wealthy people are using the chat function at that moment.

We’ve seen this done in the Apple App Store before, and even at the PocketBerry Store as well.  What’s crazy is that another one has surfaced here called Fortunatus, but at only half the cost of what we’ve seen a while ago.  This application gives you a bit more than the diamond photo.

Mobile applications for cars have become really popular.  We’ve seen apps from BMW, Mini Cooper, and a few others in the past where you can easily access your car’s manual or road side assistance.  Dodge has just launched their BlackBerry application for the Dodge Charger and Durango exclusively.  With the application you’ll have access to product information, vehicle operating instructions, vehicle maintenance schedules, service contract details, warning lights and controls, warranty information and customer assistance.  The application is also available for Android and iOS devices as well.  Hit the jump for the full press release or click the links below to download the app for your car.

The folks over at AccessorizeMobile got some nice images of the BlackBerry PlayBook OtterBox Defender case coming out when the tablet launches I’m assuming.  OtterBox makes a mean case for mobiles and tablets.  I’ve been using the OtterBox Defender on and off on my iPad and it works great giving your tablet maximum protection.  The PlayBook is small enough where it gives OtterBox more room to put more layers on it for maximum protection, but not over-doing it.  This is the Defender series according to the source.  I’m hoping they make a Commuter case as well.

Thanks Eric for sending this one in!

So it’s official! We got the word from RIM that Verizon BlackBerry Bold 9650 and BlackBerry Curve 3G 9330 users will be getting BlackBerry 6 OS updates tonight at 8PM!  Some users have reported that the updates are starting to appear as wireless updates already but not everyone has it.  To continue checking for a wireless update, head over to Options, Advanced Options, then select Wireless Update.  Bold 9650 users can click here for desktop support and Curve 3G users here.  Best of luck to everyone and let us know how you like BlackBerry 6 OS!

Earlier today, we showed you a screenshot the manage panes settings menu in BlackBerry OS 6.1. Lucas over at N4BB got some screenshots of BlackBerry OS 6.1 showing you some more than what we’ve already seen this morning.  These are all coming from the BlackBerry Curve Sedona which we saw last week leaked out.  In the above screenshot, you can see that the only pane displayed is “All” and there’s nothing set left and right.  That just an example on how you can limit what you want displayed on the home screen.  Hit the jump for more photos.
