RIM let us know that the BlackBerry Analytics Service is now available worldwide to developers as a beta program. The BlackBerry Analytics Service is powered by Webtrends. This service allows developers to simply integrate tracking into the developers applications. It leaves the developer info about how their applications are being used. The information being collected is anonymous but detailed.
Some of the Analytics that developers can follow:
- overview metrics showing active users, new users, frequency of use, engagement in duration and depth of use.
- detail in usage of screens, content, media, features, in-app search/ads
- user information including country, language, device, characteristics, carrier, connection type and errors.

Here’s another one of those music videos that has BlackBerry written all over it. We’re a bit late in mentioning, but late last week Mobiola xPlayer updated to version 2.0 adding quite a few nice features. One that stands out is BlackBerry 6 OS support, finally. You’d think that pretty much all popular applications out there would come in support fast for the new OS, but that would be too easy. Any way, here’s the full change log from Mobiola:
- Full support for OS 6.0 devices
- Dropbox integration: if you have a Dropbox account, you can log in to your Dropbox directly from xPlayer, add files to playlist from Dropbox, manage playlists with Dropbox files and playback mp3 files directly from Dropbox. You don’t need to download them. It’s recommended to use Unlimited data plan or WiFi connection to playback files from your remote Dropbox. To create a Dropbox account go to www.dropbox.com.
- We split xPlayer into xPlayer (LITE version with Ads) and xPlayer Pro (with 7 days trial)
- We cut prices to xPlayer Pro to $9.99.
So there’s xPlayer and xPlayer lite which you can download and contains advertisements which makes it free. Price has also dropped to $9.99.

BlackBerry games don’t necessarily have the best of the best graphics, but it shouldn’t discourage anyone out of mobile gaming. There are plenty of low budget games out there that serve their purposes best – kill time and become addictive. Gold Panic is a 2D game for BlackBerry where you play as a miner who needs to collect gold all around each level. But as a miner, you’ll have to dig through tunnels, push stones out of your way, and get gold.
The game is overall ok, and I think it’s worth buying with the cheap 2 dollar sticker. So if you don’t have any games on your plate now, check out Gold Panic. Click the link below to see more screenshots or to purchase it.

I certainly don’t mind reuniting with Super Mario Bros and Contra, especially on my BlackBerry. A new application has made its way to our app store called Berry FC. Berry FC is a full out Nintendo (NES) emulator for BlackBerry. Certainly you’ll have to load games on your own by downloading the ROMs online. Features of Berry FC include:
- Load nes rom from SD card. Build your own game library.
- Quick Save/Load. It provide 10 save slots for each rom.
- Save/load key. You can use one touch to save/load states.
- Custom key assignment: Up, Down, Left, Right, A, B, AA, BB, Start, Select, Quick Save, Quick Load, Trigger key.
- Trigger key. it can let AA or BB down without press them all the time.
- Custom screen size, hue, tint.
- Support thousands of roms.
Berry FC is $3.99 to purchase. I haven’t tried the application out yet, but it pretty much speaks for itself. It’s a sole emulator for Nintendo which enables you to play just about any NES game as long as you download the ROM for it.
