Here’s a quick demo of the Scrapbook application for the BlackBerry PlayBook.  Scrapbook basically is an app where you can check out pictures right on your tablet and play around with them as you please.  The coolest part? All the pictures sit on a clothing hanger and you slide left and right to browse through them.  Awesome.

Forget using BBM for casual chatting or communicating with coworkers.  RIM’s latest BlackBerry commercial shows how flirting works over BlackBerry Messenger.  There’s not much to say on this one, but you just have to see it for yourselves.

I “accidentally” stumbled across BlackBerry.com today, and saw that they changed up the whole home page which was at first dedicated to the BlackBerry PlayBook for quite some time.  Now they have this whole “There’s a BlackBerry for everyone, which will you choose” theme.  You see different people in different settings such as “The Power Couple” or “The Musician” and shows what their BlackBerry of choice is in small pop-ups.  It’s quite entertaining and pretty cool to look at if you’re shopping for a new model.  Check it out at BlackBerry.com

Kaspersky, a famous anti-virus client for Microsoft Windows based PCs have extended their services to mobile.  Now devices running Android and BlackBerry OS get Mobile Security.  It’s free to try, and $29.95 to buy.  Features include:

  • Secure contacts, photos and files from unauthorized access
  • Locate a lost or stolen smartphone
  • Block unwanted calls or SMSs
  • Privacy Protection – for your eyes only
  • Parental control
  • Protect your smartphone from malware and network attacks

So it’s not your average anti-virus application.  Features like parental controls and privacy protection are aspects people look for in other apps, but this is all included in Mobile Security by Kaspersky.

The app is pretty straight forward.  If you’re looking to post notes directly on your home screen so you don’t forget, then check out Home Screen Notes.  Surely there’s today style themes where you can see Calendar items dead ass in front of you or set reminders, but what could be better than having the notes in your face every time you look at your BlackBerry.  Features of Home Screen Notes include:

  • - Create a note and have it clear automatically at a certain date or time
  • - Set up a note to have it start and end at a later time or date
  • - Start a note and finish it later
  • - Edit a note that has already been posted
  • - Font size automatically adjusts to amount of text entered ensuring best possible viewing size
  • - Customize the note and font colors
  • - Choose from many different font selections
  • - Ability to turn transparency on and off for the posted note
  • - Ability to toggle between 12 hour and 24 hour clock
  • - Create a new note or clear a posted note from almost anywhere through the menu shortcut option
  • - Back up settings and scheduled notes to SD/Media card
  • - Built in help screen

You can grab Home Screen Notes for only 99 cents for a limited time offer.  The normal price for it is $2.99, so check it out while the price is down.

So just yesterday we finally got an update for Bolt Browser, as we haven’t been hearing about the app for quite some time now.  Now with BlackBerry 6 we have a webkit browser, but Bolt has providing that whole “desktop browser” experience.  Bolt Browser has been around for years now, and we pretty much want to see who uses the browser now.  It could be primary, secondary or whatever.  Cast your votes in the poll, tweet us, or leave us comments!

In this video, we see the BlackBerry Developer Day overview in Mobile World Congress 2011 over at Barcelona with Mike Kirkup, RIM’s Director of Developer Relations.  The event has kicked off quite well so far, not to mention that BlackBerry Messenger has won an award for being the best BlackBerry app.

It looks like Foursquare has released an alpha maintenance release v1.9.60, after the last v1.9.55 release.  Here’s the change log for this release:

  • Resolution of screen lock up issue after login on some devices
  • Resolution of checkin results lock up issue on some devices
  • Resolution of “send to twitter/facebook” not showing
  • UI fix with viewing photos on a smaller device
  • Landscape/Portrait rotational fix on some touch devices

This isn’t an official stable build as it is “alpha” but you can certainly go ahead and download it, especially if you were having issues with the previous version.

We got a general idea of what’s to be available from RIM as far as accessories go.  The cases I’ve seen so far look incredible, including that envelope-style one which is officially called the “BlackBerry Leather Envelope” and is priced at $59.99.  Some of you may think these prices are way up high, but take a second look at OEM cases and holsters you’d buy for your BlackBerry phone at retail price of course.

Earlier this morning we let you know about RIM spilling some beans about BBM 6.0.  So here it is.  We don’t get to see any action of BlackBerry Messenger 6.0 here, but we get it officially announced and discussed over at Mobile World Congress 2011.  So here we see some Q&A going on, along with the slide show in the background.
