We got to see some 3D action last week with the BlackBerry PlayBook at Mobile World Congress 2011, but here’s another clip showing you some more.  Of course you don’t get the full 3D effect in this video, but you can very well tell how intense it would be if you were there live with 3D glasses.  Rubik’s Cube makes its appearance here once again and we see other visuals such as photo galleries and application icons.  These are all concept apps by The Astonishing Tribe, only to tease us as to what to expect further in BlackBerry PlayBook development.

Earlier today, we let you know about Virgin Mobile launching OS 6.0.0.448 for the BlackBerry Curve 3G 9300, and now comes a leak.  This is the same version the Bold 9780 leak we posted up before – 6.0.0.461.  Again, it’s a leak so download and install at your own risk.  If you decide to download it, let us know about any changes you find.

What better way is there to start a week than having some OS leaks?  The first one goes out to the BlackBerry Bold 9780 with OS 6.0.0.461.  I know for a fact you T-Mobile Bold 9780 users have a few issues here and there with the out of the box OS, so you might want to try this one out, if you don’t mind putting in a leaked version.  This is for the BlackBerry Bold 9780, no compatibility with the 9700 at all on this one guys.

Allerta officially launched the inPulse Smartwatch, or as we like to call it the “BlackBerry watch” late last week.  We’ve spent the last two years glancing at whole project in the making, and are thrilled to see the final release is here.  But everyone is different, and some may find this watch handy while others won’t.  Over the years after all the hype built up for the inPulse, we want to know who’s buying one and who’s not.  Cast your vote in the poll, tweet us, and drop a line in the comments!

I’m not a huge fan of the multiple panes in BlackBerry 6 OS.  We’ve seen screenshots for OS 6.1 where you’ll be able to manage how many panes you want on the home screen and I’m really looking forward to that.  Classic 5 is a great theme for those who don’t like the panes left and right and just want to be able to browse through your BlackBerry as simple as it was on OS 5.0, but keeping the power and functionality of OS 6.  There’s quite a few themes out there that do eliminate the multiple panes, but this one is simple if you want to go for the stock lock and lose panes.  Compared to other themes that rank up to 6 or 7 bucks, Classic 5 keeps a low price of 99 cents.

As you’ve seen by now, many BlackBerry PlayBook applications have been submitted and approved in BlackBerry App World, and it’s nice to be able to see them in advanced to know what to expect.  A nice feature I’m liking here is trial applications.  Not every app in App World gets this, but it looks like some select PlayBook apps have a trial link where you can try the app before purchasing it.

I get bored of games quite frequently which explains why I’m always on the hunt for a new game to play.  At BlackBerry App World, I found a game called Guns’n'Glory, which is a western cowboy game that lets you play as Billy the Kid, Jesse James, and Butch Cassidy.  Guns’n'Glory is a strategy game where you and your team have to protect your turf when being ambushed.  You can launch flaming arrows and shoot bullets at your opponent.  Throughout the game you’ll be able to raise money to buy bigger cooler weapons as enemies get harder to destroy.

What I don’t like about some of the other iPhone style themes for BlackBerry is the lack of Today Plus features which gives you Messages and Calendar right on the home screen.  I spotted a new theme called iBerry Today Plus which gives you the iPhone-like icons and overall look, but also gives those Today Plus features just mentioned.  Features include:

  • Maximum Optimization to Prevent Memory Leaks.
  • Never miss an appointment.
  • Calendar n email on home screen.
  • Changeable app order.
  • Changeable wallpaper, the Dock remains unchanged.

I’ve tried it on the BlackBerry Torch and Bold 9650 and the theme works great on both.  In my opinion, the theme just looks nicer on touchscreen devices just because of the larger display.  It’s $5.99 to purchase for those who want to check it out first hand.
