We’ve seen QNX enabled vehicles in the past which really was fascinating to see how it communicated with the PlayBook.  In the beginning of the clip we are introduced to the car’s whole dashboard  and odometer which are all powered by QNX, then are shown the BlackBerry PlayBook and BlackBerry Bold 9700.  The PlayBook here syncs with the car since it also runs QNX.  Here we see it have an application that changes the climate control.  Why not a remote starter, or window controls? I guess there’s quite a few possibilities here with the PlayBook communicating with the QNX powered Corvette.  QNX is available in other Chevy models, any of you interested?

UberSocial, formerly known as UberTwitter got an update earlier this morning to v1.175.  This update includes a ringtone fix for those who were having sound alert issues before.  So it’s not a huge update, but I’m seeing people are actually happy this update came out so I guess everyone had the issue before.

UberTwitter is back! Only it’s not called UberTwitter anymore.  Now it’s UberSocial, since Twitter asked them to remove the word “Twitter out of their name,” which resulted to be one of the reasons for UberTwitter’s suspensions.  So if you felt lonely without it for the last few days and couldn’t stand other apps, feel free to download UberSocial today.  Servers seem to be a bit busy now so have some patience.

Whether you think it’s too soon or not, there is a new BlackBerry Torch coming this year, according to rumors.  The folks over at BBNews.pl spotted a new UAProf document for a BlackBerry 9810.  We assume it’s the BlackBerry Torch 2, for some context clues spotted in the document such as the 480 x 640 screen resolution.  Specs for the Torch 2 include:

  • 1.2GHz processor
  • Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE – Tri-band HSPA 14.4Mbps
  • 3.2-inch VGA 640 x 480 capacitive display
  • 8GB built-in memory, 512MB RAM
  • Bluetooth 2.1, GPS, NFC
  • 5-megapixel camera with flash
  • Magnetometer, Accelerometer, Proximity sensor
  • 1300 mAh battery
  • BlackBerry OS 6.1
  • OpenGL ES
  • 14.6mm thin

If it wasn’t going to be the 9810, I would of assumed it to be a 9880 since RIM got into that with the new BlackBerry Bold 9780. You can check out the full UAProf document for the BlackBerry 9810 if you’d like to dig deeper.

It’s been a while since we heard anything about Evernote for BlackBerry.  Apparently we missed a major Evernote update from a few days ago, so here it is.  Firstly, the whole user interface has been cleaned up, and looks a lot better now.  The search function has been improved by gathering results as you type and showing recent and saved searches.  Here’s more of the change log:

  • Significant performance improvements when launching, viewing and searching
  • Improved support for BlackBerry networking technologies
  • Better support for BlackBerry Curve 9300 and BlackBerry Torch
  • Numerous bug fixes and enhancements

Evernote is a great application for keeping all your notes in one place.  For me it works great since I have notes on my iPad, MacBook and BlackBerry.  Evernote allows me to keep them all in one place and easy accessible.

Yesterday some applications including a new build of Twitter for BlackBerry and BBM6 leaked out.  It’s been really wild with all the hype over the two, and many folks having issues over keycodes.  So here’s Facebook for BlackBerry v1.9.1.5 and Docs2Go v3.0.0.21.  Not sure if they require keycodes or not, so please don’t yell at us this time!  Both applications have been extracted from the BlackBerry Sedona running OS 6.1.  With that said, these apps will only work for OS 6 device only.

This was sooner than expected, but it looks like BlackBerry Messenger 6.0 has leaked out.  We first gave you the word on all new features included in BBM 6.0, then we saw RIM demonstrate it at Mobile World Congress 2011.  So here it is folks, the full leak, courtesy of BBHybrids.  Be sure to do a full backup of your BBM contacts before trying this out as it is a leak, and in no way official.  Download while the link stays active!

UPDATE: Sorry guys we forgot to mention before, you must be using OS 6.0 for this, and MUST delete your current version of BBM then install this one.

UPDATE 2: If you’re a Beta Zone member, use your latest BBM beta key code and it should work.  Thanks for the tip Luis!

After UberTwitter got suspended by and from Twitter yesterday, the company started working rapidly to work on changes in their application to get back into the game.  We had mentioned two reasons why UberTwitter was banned, one was because of direct messages being longer than 140 characters, and the other is the modifications of tweets to monetize.  What we found out today is that Twitter is demanding a name change as well, so now UberTwitter will be known as UberSocial.  Hit the jump for the full official statement from UberMedia.
