RIM looking for a Name & Numbering Manager for BlackBerry Products

That’s a pretty cool job title. Imagine being the one in charge of creating the name Bold 9000 or Torch 9800. It looks like RIM is looking to recruit a “Name and Numbering Manager” to be in charge of making names and model numbers for future BlackBerry devices. Here’s the job description:

Help generate and facilitate the naming of new BlackBerry product and services
Develop processes that streamline requests and the collection of information
Help educate internal stakeholders on naming best practices to advocate cross team naming collaboration
Successful candidate has the ability to develop strong collaborative relationships with key stakeholders and teams such as Creative Excellence, Legal, Brand Strategy, Competitive Intelligence, Consumer Insights and Product Management in the determination of names
Successful candidate will initially work within an established process but, will also be able to identify ways to make the naming process more pragmatic and streamlined – including the introduction of new processes and routines

We’ve reached some high peaks when it comes to BlackBerry model numbers. At the moment we have the Torch 9800, rumors on a 9900, and then what? 10,000? I don’t think so. Time to get real creative with BlackBerry model numbers. Maybe we’ll be seeing the BlackBerry Bold “X3″ or something along those lines mixed with letters now. Maybe RIM won’t focus on model numbers anymore and focus more on brands.

So for instance, the Bold can be the “Bold.” If it gets an updated version later it can become the Bold-Z or something along those lines. I’m obviously not creative enough to be this name and numbering manager, but you get the idea as how it could work for them.
