WordPress for BlackBerry has just updated moments ago to version 1.4.6 officially. In the release notes for the update it reads:
This release is a security update that also improves the communication layer within the app. While the app should transfer your credentials to the new storage model, you might be forced to re-add your blogs/sites when updating.

Last update we saw for Twitter for BlackBerry was v1.1.0.16. This one’s v1.1.0.17, bringing no change log, but the update is available to download. Head over to BlackBerry Beta Zone to download as most of you should be eligible to download it, especially if you had the last update.

Yesterday Bla1ze from CrackBerry spotted in PlayBook video demoing the 7Digital Music Store that a PIN is present for the tablet when connected to Device Manager. Last week at the PlayBook event in NYC, one of the RIM reps did mention to me that the PlayBook would have a PIN, but “works differently” and unfortunately could not elaborate on that further. This was for the WiFi model also, which makes me wonder what’s ahead for the device. I’m thinking that sometime down the road, we’ll be able to have a BBM account on the PlayBook without having to bridge it with a BlackBerry smartphone. I could be wrong, but it seems like a great idea. I’m sure the PIN will have other uses, so we’ll have to wait and see.

I found it to be a little tease yesterday with the BlackBerry Torch 2 which may or may not come to T-Mobile. I’m hoping AT&T carries it, as they did team up with RIM on the original Torch 9800. Would be kinda messed up to leave them in the dark for the second generation.
So this is why the BlackBerry Torch 2 needs to come out already, or why I feel it should rather. The BlackBerry Torch 2 is seriously what the first generation Torch should of been with all the hype that built up for it. Don’t get me wrong, I find the device to be great, but there’s things that bothered me which I found addressed in this second revision.
First there’s the screen resolution. With the original Torch, 480 x 360 just doesn’t cut it. When we upgrade from smaller devices such as the Bold to the Torch, we expect to see higher resolution. The new BlackBerry Torch 2 has been rumored to rock 640 x 480 screen resolution, which I find will satisfy my itch. Now we’re talking. A larger device, with a larger screen and larger screen resolution, makes sense doesn’t it?

Shazam for BlackBerry just got updated late last night. In this update, we see some good new features and fixes from issues we had before. For some odd reason, Twitter sharing was always an issue with me with Shazam. It looks like that has been fixed in this build. Also, finally they have added Facebook share! Here’s the full change log:
- Fixed Twitter
- Implemented ‘Share by Facebook’
- Setting Icon (shortcut) added to homescreen
- Fixed permissions issues for people using Company phone (company server periodically changes permissions and stops some Apps working)
- Reduced App size (faster download)

We’ve already seen the CDMA BlackBerry roadmap for 2011, but nothing for GSM until now. This one looks like it is targeted specifically to T-Mobile only as we see it written over the Bold Touch, and the pink is very signature for the carrier. Here in this roadmap we see the BlackBerry Bold Touch, Torch 2, and the new generation Curve.

We haven’t seen much of the media side for the BlackBerry PlayBook. Surely there’s the native media player and the picture gallery with the awesome UI we saw, but now we see a bit more. In this video we get a little hands on with the 7Digital Music Store and BlackBerry Podcasts app which both come preloaded on the PlayBook.

Backup is important. Who likes to lose all their info from their BlackBerrys when they’re lost or stolen, or even crash? RIM recently launched BlackBerry Protect as an open beta which allows you to wirelessly backup you device, wipe it if it is stolen, track it, and much more. It’s been out for a few days and we’re curious to see how many of you have hopped on to try it out.
