PlayBook owners: Are you having issues with BlackBerry Bridge?

BlackBerry Bridge is a feature I’ve been waiting to take advantage of since I received my BlackBerry PlayBook.  Unfortunately, it has not worked for me at all since Bridge officially launched last week.  I’ve gotten the application to work on my BlackBerry Bold 9780, Torch 9800, and Pearl 9100, but always encountered some sort of issue with each device.  The Pearl 9100 worked fine a few times then just stopped.  As for the Bold 9780, it only worked after I wiped my handheld completely for about a dozen times.  The Torch never made its way to connect at all, as there’s some sort of communication issue between the device and the PlayBook.  There’s not many helpful tips available online for how to fix the issue, but if any of you have had some of your own with BlackBerry Bridge we’d like to hear about them.  Drop us a line in the comments.

Oh yeah! My Bridge won’t connect to my Torch. It worked for a day or so, then I did a battery pull and it died again. I’ve spent about 4 hours on the phone with RIM support, with no luck. Countless messages with RIM support, and no luck. Guess we will have to wait for RIM to find the issue and fix it.

I’ve had some serious trouble with the Bridge (along with other issues, see the following two blog posts I wrote)

What I’ve found that works, is to hard-reset the PlayBook, reload the OS (yes, really), delete the PlayBook paired profile from your BlackBerry phone device, and then go through the initial PlayBook setup when the tablet restarts after the OS reload.

During the initial setup, it will establish the bridge with your phone device. Make sure you go through and do the MANUAL setup, don’t do the automatic setup, and also make sure you search for your PlayBook through the bluetooth applet on your phone, NOT the “BlackBerry Bridge” application that the PlayBook asks you to do.

After doing that, it all works fine.

Under Bluetooth Connections, MAP Options UNcheck all your email addresses. Seems it confuses the signal. All the sudden I could connect on my Bold 9780 (after 3 days and unending hours with BB and T-Mobile support – no one knows ANNYTHING).

Still think the Playbook is a $700 paperweight though. So not worth all the trouble unless it was really cheap and it’s not. Not happy.

Have ATT Torch and downloaded “leaked” direct OTA link for Bridge: it has worked absolutely flawlessly since then. Sorry to hear others have issues (ps have latest Torch and Playbook OS)

Bought the playbook on tuesday and returned it to best buy on saturday. Downloaded the workaround blackberry bridge on my torch. The email, contacts, tasks all worked fine but the browser would take literally 5 minutes to load a page. Decided to return it and wait to see if att allows the tethering.

I got my PlayBook today and started to download BlackBerryBridge on my Bold 9000. After a few minutes suddenly the camera was switched on and no key responded any more. So I took out the battery and placed it back. But now it continuously restarts. Can’t use it any more and I need it for my work :-( (((
