This is the type of clip I would have expected to see at BlackBerry World perhaps, but it looks like that’s been spoiled, thanks to the leak!  Here’s the BlackBerry Bold Touch 9900 giving you full touchscreen, a full QWERTY keyboard, and a form factor close to the BlackBerry Bold 9000.  Watch the clip after the jump!

It’s nice to see the BlackBerry Torch 2 hands on in an actual video rather than just leaked images.  Here we see it side by side with another smartphone, and it pretty much looks to be the same dimensions as the first generation Torch 9800.  The OS seems to move a lot faster here, given the better processor.  The panes move left and right much smoother without any lag.  I still don’t understand why the BlackBerry logo is on both the chrome and the black frame around the screen right on top of one another.  Also, the silver/gray backside is something I need to learn to like eventually.

Thanks James for the tip!

Another hands on video has surfaced for the BlackBerry Touch 9860 aka Monaco/Monza.  Once again it’s a brief walkthrough some applications and pretty much shows off how fast the device really is.

Thanks for the tip James!

As you know by now, Foo Fighters had their Garage Tour, presented by BlackBerry.  RIM has posted up a quick minute clip highlighting moments from the tour.  Lots of BlackBerry labels going around and great music!

Menu Clock by S4BB has just updated to version 2.0.  For those who don’t remember Menu Clock, it’s an application that allows you to see your clock right in your menu.  So if you are in an application, there’s no reason to flip back to your home screen.  Push the BlackBerry menu button, and you’ll see the time right there.  Here’s the full change log for version 2.0:

  • Application screen updates now in real-time.
  • Data shown in menu can be set to: time only, time & date, or date only.
  • Menu click action can now be set to: show time & date dialogue, BlackBerry® clock, or Menu Clock screen.
  • Time & Date dialogue now updates in real time

It looks like a news reporter asked the wrong question at the wrong time.  RIM co-CEO Mike Lazaridis ended a BBC interview when he was questioned about security issues with BlackBerry in India.  Lazaridis was highly offended by a false accusation that there is anything wrong with BlackBerry security and states that RIM has been singled out because of their success.  He continues on that they have a lot of problems they are dealing with at the moment as well.  Interview ends completely when Lazaridis is asked whether or not users in the region are going to have problems using their BlackBerry smartphones there.  He said it was “unfair” to say, and that was it.

I attended a BlackBerry PlayBook event in New York City two nights ago and noticed an OS update available on most of the  PlayBook units displayed.  The update was to version 1.0.1.1558, and estimated at about 276MB.  The download is over the air, which I can’t complain about.  I have enough Desktop Manager action, definitely don’t want to add the PlayBook to that as well.  I asked several representatives from RIM, and finally one came out and said that this is an update that will pop up as soon as you open up your PlayBook and activate it.  They could have been wrong and this may just be an update for private beta testers.

If it is an update for us all to hit up upon unleashing the PlayBook out if its box, then I’m glad RIM is staying on top of its game making sure all is well with its PlayBook firmware.  We unfortunately weren’t allowed to take any pictures at the event for obvious reasons.

We were already told that the BlackBerry PlayBook would be enterprise ready, so now we see some IT policies come in effect.  RIM has released them yesterday, as BerryReview posted up its availability.  The first IT policy is for allowing users to use BlackBerry Bridge to connect their BlackBerry smartphones to the PlayBook.  The second is to allow the PlayBook to generate and send log files to the Technical Solution Center.  Both are available to download.  Continue reading to check out the full Knowledge Base article.

Pageonce Pro is one of my favorite BlackBerry applications, and I know I’ve said that various times for others as well.  Pageonce Pro helps you mange many different things including credit cards, bills, statements, and much more.  We’ve seen it featured in a BlackBerry commercial before (as seen above).  Any way, the bottom line here is that the application costs $6.99 usually, but is up in App World free for a limited time.  Here’s a list of features:

  • Monitor your credit card transactions
  • Check your bank account status
  • View your detailed bill statements
  • Review your investment portfolio
  • Track your frequent flyer miles and travel itineraries
  • Advanced alerts and push notification system
  • All upcoming bills due dates and itineraries will automatically be added your calendar

So once again, it’s for a limited time only.  We don’t know when the last day is, so it’s best you grab a copy now “while supplies last.”
