We got the word yesterday about RIM putting out the BlackBerry PlayBook Haiku Contest, where they’ll be giving out 20 BlackBerry PlayBook tablets. To enter to win, you’ll have to follow BlackBerry on Twitter for starters, but that’s not all.
Between April 11-15 and April 25-29, there will be contest invites put out. You’ll have to write out a Haiku in reference to BlackBerry, mentioning @BlackBerry in the tweet with the hashtag #PlayBookHaiku. Stressed out yet? Hit the jump to read all the rules and regulations of the contest and the Haiku you have to write out.

I know you know what I’m talking about here. For those who are confused, then you don’t have a leaked OS installed on your BlackBerry just yet. When your BlackBerry is charging, you see the charging bolt appear over the center of the battery meter. It stays solid by default, but we discover in the later OS builds that it blinks. I discovered it first in the .448 leak for the BlackBerry Torch 9800. I thought my charger was broken at first, but realized it was from the new OS. Then it went away after I installed .486, and I did not try another OS update until today with the .534. Now the blinking is back, and I find it annoying to have that animation on the screen while I’m putting in “work” on my BlackBerry. How do you guys feel about it? Love it, hate it, don’t care?

We’ve seen Poynt on the BlackBerry PlayBook quite a few times, but most of the screenshots showed some missing features and icons. Poynt was nice enough to send us out some screenshots of their PlayBook application, which I personally can’t wait to use. I really wish the spinning reel was still in the PlayBook version as I love spinning it around on my Torch. Oh well, the app still rocks. The image above is the home screen which shows to be pretty simple. Some more tabs appear in the upper right hand corerMore screenshots after the jump!

This time around we get a better idea of the BlackBerry Touch. We saw a leaked video once before, but it only showed the physical dimensions of the device, and not so much the software functionality. Here we see that the phone does move pretty fast. We see a little bit of hour glassin’, but nothing to discourage us just yet. What do you think of the BlackBerry Touch? Will it finally be a good competitor against today’s touchscreen smartphones?

This clarifies our concern last month when we ranted about how the BlackBerry PlayBook warranty was going to work exactly. Lots of people looked at it as a no brainer, in which you could take the PlayBook back to the store you purchased it at. Wrong! It looks like the PlayBook is going to have its warranty and repair support directly from RIM. Other companies including Sony handle it the same way. Any time you buy a Sony camera or any of their other products, it specifically says not to take it back to the store and to call the company directly for any issues.

The BlackBerry PlayBook is only days away from officially launching. Pre-orders are available at many retail channels including Staples, Best Buy, and Sears. A virtual tutorial online has spotted, where you’ll get tips, tricks, and just overall functions of the BlackBerry PlayBook. It’s interesting that this never brought out to us officially, and actually needed to be spotted online for us to post as it’s pretty useful for those who want to get better acquainted with the tablet.

It looks like iBerry is today’s Deal of the Day in the theme section. It was available in BlackBerry Beta Zone before, but it looks like it has gone official now in App World as well. There’s some nice swiping gestures for BlackBerry Torch users in this version, along with geotagging support where you can tweet and share your location at the same time.

Lastly (I think), the BlackBerry Curve 3G 9300 gets the same OS treatment as the Bold 9780 and Torch 9800, 6.0.0.534. I think I’m going to actually try this OS and hopefully it remains to be the latest and greatest for a while. Drop us a line if you try it. Download and install at your own risk!
