Gogo has launched their free inflight application which makes signing on to WiFi easier when flying.  The app will detect the Gogo network first.  Then it’s a single sign in page, and you’re good to go.   It’s that simple, not much to it at all.  You can pick up Gogo for BlackBerry at App World.

OverDrive isn’t your average eBook application.  It actually works like an actual library where you check books out and return them, minus the late fees.  Here’s a stock description from the press release:

OverDrive’s BlackBerry app provides untethered access to EPUB eBooks and MP3 audiobooks from the library. The app’s “Get Books” feature makes it easy to find a local library, and then browse for titles, check them out with a library card, and download directly to BlackBerry. Digital books from the library will automatically expire in the app, so there are never late fees. Users will also benefit from enhancements, such as an orientation lock and custom bookmarks.

Surely Skype is going to be available for the BlackBerry PlayBook.  We saw the icon surface before in the past, but we never got any raw details on how the application would be on the tablet.  Will we be getting video chat?  Video chat wasn’t supported on Skype Mobile for iOS until recently, and I’m hoping we don’t get that same wait.

Also, what’s up with the $2.99 price tag? How much is Skype for iOS or Android?  Exactly my point.

Just five days before the launch of the BlackBerry PlayBook, RIM decided to hold an exclusive invite only BlackBerry PlayBook event.  We attended a PlayBook event in NYC already, but that was just showing off the tablet pretty much with no launch date.  We blocked out the invite code and location of the event for obvious reasons in the invitation screenshot above.  This is a launch party, but there’s not telling what exactly is going on there.  Food, booze, giveaways maybe?  We’ll have to wait and see.  Anyone else invited?
