It’s very typical to get an update for Pandora with no change log unless it’s something groundbreaking. Pandora has once again updated for BlackBerry, bringing up to version 1.1.8. Given that it has no change log, we assume it’s just some bug fixes. As always, if you spot anything new, drop us a line!

Throughout the year we’ve been hearing all about BlackBerry 6.1 OS and seeing devices with it loaded on. Even all the leaked roadmaps made references to OS 6.1 and OS 6.1 Lite. Some tips have been sent over to CrackBerry indicating that BlackBerry 6.1 OS is being renamed BlackBerry 7 now. The downside? It’s not going to be QNX based yet. We’ll have to wait til BlackBerry 8 for that it looks like.

Who remembers Earthworm Jim on older consoles like Sega Genesis? The hit game has made its way mobile to BlackBerry now. Surprisingly the game works really well with no lagging and very easy controls. I’ve tried it on the BlackBerry Torch which requires you to play in landscape mode with on screen keys. My only complaint is the sound in the game, as it gets choppy from time to time, but the gameplay itself is good. I’m hoping they release the sequel to the game too, as long as this one does well.

The PlayBook has been out for about a week now and I’ve been spending a lot of time discovering what you can and can’t do on the PlayBook. One really neat feature (well at least to me) is the ability to record video using the front facing camera, while the music player is running. Why would you want to do that. Well maybe for blogging purposes, or if you just want to record a video with a soundtrack attached to it.
To record a video using the front facing camera open up the camera, and select the front facing camera icon the. Select the video capture icon. To play music while you are recording a video open up the music player then en up the camera and select the video record button.

Try this application at your own risk. I can imagine people getting in serious trouble for imitating police officers. Cop Lights Pro makes your BlackBerry screen turn into police lights, flickering red and blue at a fast rate just like real officers have. As mentioned before, use it at your own risk. It’s available at the PocketBerry Store for 99 cents as a special promotion, where it’s $1.99 regularly.

Hulu took down its services from the BlackBerry PlayBook last week. It upset many of us since it was incredible that Hulu worked seamlessly on the PlayBook web browser with no issues whatsoever. The latest word is that RIM is in talks with Hulu to bring Hulu Plus to the BlackBerry PlayBook, as we’ve seen on other platforms such as iOS. BerryReview put up a workaround (sort of), for those who want to still get Hulu access on their PlayBooks.

RIM just announced their acquisition of Tungle, a company that provides cloud-based calendar services that allows users to schedule appointments anywhere whether it’s on mobile or desktop, keeping it all unified. It connects with Google, Yahoo!, Facebook, TripIt, Plancast, Outlook, iCal, Lotus Notes, Lotus Live, and Windows Live. With that said, BlackBerry Calendar will be enhanced with these rich features as scheduling appointments and such will become so much easier having it cross platform compatible.

Earlier this evening, BlackBerry Messenger 6.0 hit the streets “officially” in BlackBerry Beta Zone. We’ve seen leaked versions surface the web in the past, but people were having all sorts of issues using it, and getting it to activate. Hopefully this one’s a lot less buggy. Here’s some features included:
- Updated BBM branding
- More “snappy” and responsive feel
- Visual distinction of message drafts vs. sent messages
- Any alerts set for SMS contacts are now preserved in BBM once an SMS contact is integrated with BBM
- Invite a Text Messaging Contact — it’s now easier to search contacts
- Location Search — you can now search for a location before sending, similar to the Location Search experience via SMS
- Location Sending — you can now detect your location with cell tower triangulation or GPS
- Appointment Sending — sending appointment or calendar events is now a similar experience to that of sending an appointment via SMS
And there you have it – BBM 6.0! To download, head over to BlackBerry Beta Zone and you should see it on the right side under Eligible Programs. Enjoy!
