GestureBB is a pretty cool theme I spotted in the PocketBerry Store making itself far more unique than other themes on the market. It gets its name “GestureBB” since it has gestures within the trackpad. Here are the swipe gestures you can perform:
- Swipe down and pull down an options menu from the top of the screen with easy access to profiles, options, etc…
- Swipe up and pull up a dock with user-defined 6 icons, BlackBerry style!
- Swipe from left to right to open the first application in your device application order.
- Swipe from right to left and swipe in your main menu, for all your applications access!
Also, it looks like the icons here came from OS 4.5, but have been remixed up a bit to look new with a taste of OS 6. You can see the video demonstration and more screenshots at our app store. GestureBB is only $1.49 as a limited time sale where it’ll bump back up to $2.99 later on.

BBThemes launched a game called PaperPlane for BlackBerry PlayBook, which I hopped on to immediately as soon as it was available in App World. The game objective is quite simple. You have a paper plane to launch as far as you can to achieve a high score which puts you up in the leaderboard to compete with others. But it’s not that easy. You’ll have to launch it in a way that it doesn’t hit other objects including lamp shades and walls.

It’s no secret by now but in case you didn’t know, BlackBerry App World on your smartphone allows you to scan QR codes. This comes handy with the BlackBerry PlayBook when you have codes to scan off the screen or just in general. RIM put out this short clip exemplifying how QR code scanning goes on BlackBerry smartphones.

On Wednesday, BlackBerry Beta Zone launched up some new features for its members. One awesome feature is keycode code listing. You can get all your specific keycodes for applications in My Account > Keycodes. Also, you can fetch the latest keycode by clicking “Get Latest Key Code” next to each application available for you. Hit the jump to check out all the new features.

There are so many new things to do and to discover on the BlackBerry PlayBook, especially with all the new applications that keep rolling out in App World for it. I’ve started checking out all the new apps and games and I came across a game called Doodle Blast. In short you have to guide the marbles by using limited ink into a container. The more marbles you get in, and the least amount of ink will gain you more points and onto the next level.

You can easily do a system wipe from the Security option on your PlayBook, but you can also do a full hard reset by pushing down some buttons. Here’s how to do it:
- Hold down the volume up key, volume down key, and power button all at the same time. Hold them down for about 15 seconds. Then your PlayBook will start its hard reset.
UPDATE: RIM just emailed us and let us know that holding the power button down alone for 10 seconds will do both a hardware and software reset.

I’ve used applications like AirTouch on my iPad where it allows me to use it as a mouse for my computer. AirTouch is free to download and use which is always nice. The downside? It looks like only PCs are supported but maybe we’ll see Apple get in on the action later on.
To make AirTouch work, you’ll have to install the application on your PlayBook, then get the server program from Google Code. As mentioned before, AirTouch is free to download and is available at BlackBerry App World.

The most ridiculous thing ever is flashlight applications for BlackBerry that cost money. I don’t mind so much the free applications out there that help toggle your camera flash easier. Another free application has surfaced called Simple Flashlight Free. It gives you a timer you can set so you don’t end up draining your battery more than you intend to. If it’s something you would use frequently, you can set as a convenience key.
