Some of you are probably laughing thinking that the tip is so obvious. I felt the same way too until I attended BlackBerry World. I could not believe how many BlackBerry PlayBooks around me on the same network were open for wifi sharing and I was very much able to open up their media with no problem or prompts. Of course I did so just to see if it would work not to snoop – seriously.
So here’s how to set a password for all of you out there who attended last week’s BlackBerry World keynote unprotected (and everyone else who has been oblivious to security).
- Open the Options menu on the BlackBerry PlayBook
- Select the Storage & Sharing option
- When enabling File Sharing and Wi-Fi Sharing, turn “Password Protect” on as well
- You will be prompted to set a password and there you have it
In best hopes I have no luck picking up other open BlackBerry PlayBooks at BlackBerry World 2012!
