RIM official statement regarding BlackBerry PlayBook recalls
by Otoniel Bruno

It appears that the BlackBerry PlayBook recall is not as serious as we thought it would be. RIM immediately released an officially statement addressing what the specific issues with the faulty PlayBooks are. Here’s what they have to say:
RIM determined that approximately one thousand BlackBerry PlayBook tablets (16 GB) were shipped with an OS build that may result in the devices being unable to properly load software upon initial set-up. The majority of the affected devices are still in the distribution channel and haven’t reached customers. RIM is working to replace the affected devices. In the small number of cases where a customer received a PlayBook that is unable to properly load software upon initial set-up, they can contact RIM for assistance.
So there you have it. It’s a software loading issue right out of the box. Chances are if you received a PlayBook with this issue, you contacted customer support or got your unit warranty exchanged by now. It’s an issue totally noticeable out of the box, so those who are worried whether or not their PlayBooks are defective, you’ll know right away if yours is or not.
