It’s no secret that the BlackBerry Bold 9900 is getting a single core 1.2GHz processor and of course is impressive with those speeds as it is. It would be nice if it were a dual core, but let’s not get so picky now as this single core 1.2GHz is a huge jump for RIM as is. So Vodafone has their advertisement up for the BlackBerry Bold 9900 showing that it’s 1.2GHz dual core, when in reality it isn’t. Typos like that might be throwing people off, so keep in mind that it is single core, but is a very rapid device. Refer back to our video overview of the BlackBerry Bold 9900 from BlackBerry World 2011.

WordRival, one of my favorite games for BlackBerry just got another nice update. For a while the developers of the game were releasing update after update, addressing bug issues and fixing the user interface. After not hearing about the game for a few months now, we see it has updated to version 1.3.1. In this version we see the UI get a nice face lift. The menu is a lot easier to use, and looks cleaner. Also in this update is “improved functionality” which could include bug fixes as well. Head over to My Account in the PocketBerry Store to update, or click the link below to grab a copy of WordRival if you don’t have it already.

It appears that the BlackBerry PlayBook recall is not as serious as we thought it would be. RIM immediately released an officially statement addressing what the specific issues with the faulty PlayBooks are. Here’s what they have to say:
RIM determined that approximately one thousand BlackBerry PlayBook tablets (16 GB) were shipped with an OS build that may result in the devices being unable to properly load software upon initial set-up. The majority of the affected devices are still in the distribution channel and haven’t reached customers. RIM is working to replace the affected devices. In the small number of cases where a customer received a PlayBook that is unable to properly load software upon initial set-up, they can contact RIM for assistance.
So there you have it. It’s a software loading issue right out of the box. Chances are if you received a PlayBook with this issue, you contacted customer support or got your unit warranty exchanged by now. It’s an issue totally noticeable out of the box, so those who are worried whether or not their PlayBooks are defective, you’ll know right away if yours is or not.

A bad shipment of about a thousand BlackBerry PlayBook tablets has reached Staples, and RIM is issuing a recall. There’s a full list of serial numbers spotted where you can check to see if yours is on the list. We’ll be getting the official statement in moments so you can see what the fault is with the tablets, making it easy to determine if you fall under that category or not. It looks like the info broke loose this weekend, but RIM will definitely take care of the situation and replace what’s already faulty.

I think it’s great that the BlackBerry PlayBook is very portable given that it’s a 7 inch tablet and extremely light. While attending BlackBerry World 2011, I caught a few people whipping them out of their back pockets and a few in their suit jackets as seen in the image above. So we want to know how you guys get around with your BlackBerry PlayBooks. Do you have them set in your pocket or do you walk around with it in a carrying case? Drop us a line in the comments!

BlackBerry Feedback Tool is now available in BlackBerry App World to download. The application pretty much lets you voice your opinion to RIM, giving them feedback which theoretically will enhance their products and services. We have the BlackBerry Bold 9900 launching soon, and it appears RIM has made its moves on the exterior design based on comments and rants found on the blogs on how a Bold 9000 form factor is in demand. I’m not saying new devices are going to get created from this feedback tool, but RIM wants to know how you feel about their products and services, and this is your chance to deliver it to them directly.

BlackBerry Travel is a really nice application for those who travel, but it doesn’t look like many people are actually on to it. In any case, it got an update late last night to version 1.0.384.99. There’s no change log on this one, so we assume it’s some bug fixes. You can grab the latest version at BlackBerry App World.
