NCIS has made its way to BlackBerry, but on a little different approach. Usually when we see movies and TV shows come to mobiles as games, we see a single version launched, and maybe a sequal. NCIS gets five different episodes to download and play. Hopefully we’ll be seeing more added as we go along, but as mentioned there’s five different ones to keep you company for now. So far I’ve tried the first episode and the game is pretty fun so far with a little challenge to it. You can grab the episodes at 99 cents each from Bplay.

Blocks is another Tetris clone, but free to download and play. It was just added in the PocketBerry Store this morning, so you can grab a copy. The game says it supports pretty much all devices from the 8700 and up, but it looks you’ll need an accelerometer. So supported devices here are Torch 9800 and Storm 1/2. The controls are:
- Move finger left/right to change direction
- Swipe finger downward to accelerate
- Tilt device left/right to change direction
- Tilt device up for acceleration.
- Tilt device straight up for maximum acceleration.

At BlackBerry World 2011, we got to the first look at the BlackBerry Bold 9900 which comes preloaded with BlackBerry 7 OS. Of course when a new OS surfaces, we tend to see themes release to look just like them. Some of you probably can’t wait for OS 7 to launch, so a theme built to look identical to it may suffice. SEVEN for BlackBerry is a simple theme that uses OS 7 style icons and very little memory usage, keeping your BlackBerry up to speed but looking sexier.

It’s no surprise that banks and credit card companies are adding NFC (near field communication) to their services as smartphones are starting to get equipped with the built-in chips to support them. Visa announced they are launching Digital Wallet in Canada sometime during the fall this year. We’ve already seen Bank of America testing out NFC for BlackBerry at the moment, so we expect them to make their big debut with that sometime soon.
The BlackBerry Bold 9900/9930 is the first BlackBerry to support NFC. The device is expected to launch this summer, so hopefully we’ll see quite a few banks and credit card companies push out NFC services. Most likely we’ll see Digital Wallet come to BlackBerry, but no announcement on devices have been made yet.

Chalkboard is a really nice theme for BlackBerry that actually looks like a real chalkboard. When you have an icon or item selected within the theme, you’ll see the animations where the chalk outlines move. I’ve seen chalkboard themes in the past, but nothing looking this accurate with animations. Surprisingly the theme hasn’t slowed my BlackBerry down either as the animations aren’t that heavy I guess. The only thing that bothers me is the animated icon on the right hand side that just doesn’t stop.
Also, I can’t seem to find the price of the theme here, so I’m assuming it’s free. The theme does say “Free Trial” but there is no option to buy. Who’s complaining? Click the link below to check out Chalkboard and other apps, games, and themes at Bplay.

I’m not so sure if photo booths are as popular as they used to be, but I recall seeing them in movie theaters in malls. Photo Booth for BlackBerry simulates the same photo booth you remember. It takes four back to back photos then puts them in a strip just like photo booths do. Features include:
- Takes 4 pictures in a row
- Takes the pictures by itself, just hold still and make a funny face
- Photos saved in Photo Booth Style
- Quick overview and zoom mode in gallery
- Easy in use & light weight
Photo Booth is currently on sale for $1.99 as a special promotion price, saving you 60% instantly. Click the link below to purchase at the PocketBerry Store or to check out more info and screenshots of the app.

I’m usually a sucker for “Top Purchased Apps” when it comes to application stores. That’s how I came across Aqualux which appeared to be high on the top purchased list in BlackBerry App World for PlayBook. Aqualux is really fun and addictive game where you have to get pipes together from start to end so that “aqua” (I don’t know why they don’t just call it water) can flow through. The game looks and sounds easier than it really is though.

It’s been a while since we heard anything about Seesmic, but it looks like they’re still working hard on getting updates out for their BlackBerry application. I was surprised to see a few people were using it at BlackBerry World 2011 as their primary Twitter app too. But overall for the majority, it doesn’t seem to be the preferred mobile Twitter client for BlackBerry yet, but with all these updates rolling out, it might be fit for you. Version 1.5 of Seesmic for BlackBerry includes full Salesforce Chatter support and a few UI changes including a new composer. Another tycoon game has arrive to BlackBerry smartphones. This one’s a little different than what you’ve seen already. In the past we’ve had tycoon games based on restaurants, theme parks, and more, but now we see a pawn store. Pawn Store Tycoon lets you manage money for your store and lets you build up your empire in this simulation. You can buy racks for your store which let you put in more inventory, complete level objectives, negotiate with customers to buy items cheaper so you can profit, and lots more.
Pawn Store Tycoon is currently on sale at the PocketBerry Store for only $2.99, as it’s usually $4.99.
