Rumors »

There’s a rumor that came out from BGR talking about a new BlackBerry PlayBook to launch in the fall, but there’s no solid information on it just yet. Supposedly it will be an updated OS included in this new PlayBook. Oh yeah, and it’s supposed to be 10 inches. So now RIM’s big push on the 7 inch PlayBook is that you can take it everywhere. If the rumor on a new PlayBook is true, then what’s their punch line going to be? Just an overall iPad killer?
The new PlayBook is supposed to get native email and BBM right out of the box, but again these are just rumors and we don’t know what’s really going to surface.

As you know by now, they launched their BlackBerry PlayBook application a few days after the launch of the tablet. There was a syncing to BlackBerry smartphone feature that was available, but was later enabled a few days ago. Check out the video to see how Poynt for PlayBook works with BlackBerry smartphone.

WordMaster, the game that’s pretty much the same as Boggle has made its way in even more languages. We started off with English, then it later emerged into Italian and a few other languages. Now we see all in one shot it’s now available in Norwegian, French, German, and Danish. The game is $4.99 to purchase, and occasionally gets $1 off from time to time if you’re looking for a sale promotion.

An awesome demonstration we got to see at BlackBerry World was the BBM Social Platform. RIM demonstrated its power by showing us how it worked through Foursquare at the live keynote, and it was pretty impressive. When you check in to a venue, it gives a pop up notification asking for your permission to update your BBM status where you click “ok” or “cancel.” Check out the video to see how it works.

Well it’s no surprise that the BlackBerry PlayBook has launched with quite a few OS updates, the last one being a major one adding a bunch of new features. In an interview we saw about native email on the BlackBerry PlayBook with Andrew Bocking, VP Handheld Software Product Management and he says that frequent updates with new features is “common theme” for BlackBerry PlayBook owners.
We had such a huge update with OS 1.0.3, and we should continue to see new features rolling out. How do you feel about getting lots of new updates? Do you feel the PlayBook should have launched later on or just accept getting updates as you use the tablet?

We really wanted it, and it looks like we’re getting it. Ever since the BlackBerry PlayBook launched, folks have been emphasizing how much native email and calendar is essential. We gave you a brief look at the native email client for BlackBerry PlayBook, but here’s a better hands on clip.
