First we saw OS 6.1 leaks, and now they’re being put out as OS 7.0 builds.  Pretty cool.  I’m looking forward to seeing what applications will be ripped out of this OS for us to use if any.  Any way, here’s OS 7.0.0.100 for the BlackBerry Curve 9350 and 9370.  Both devices have not launched yet so the majority won’t find anything to do with this OS.  As for those rockin’ the device, check it out!

(Los Angeles, CA, May 23, 2011) Grindr Xtra, the app with the world’s largest all male mobile location-based network, is now available for BlackBerry devices.  As of March 2011, BlackBerry devices share a nearly equal part of the market with iPhone and Android. According to data released earlier this year by the Nielsen Company, 27% of smartphone users in the United States use BlackBerry, 27% use iPhone OS and 29% use Android. With this latest release, Grindr is now available on the top three smartphone platforms and reaches over 80% of all smartphone users. Now BlackBerry users can join the Grindr network and chat with other Grindr users across all platforms – BlackBerry, Apple iOS, and Android.

So what’s that have to do with BlackBerry users? Well Kobo has been around for years now, formerly known as Short Covers.  It is the native eBook reader application for the BlackBerry PlayBook and has gained its popularity over the years on BlackBerry smartphones as well.  For those who would like to get their Kobo books on an actual eBook reader besides the PlayBook, you can grab the all new eReader Touch Edition by Kobo.  That way you’ll have the same library on any platform you go whether its a PlayBook, BlackBerry smartphone, or eReader.

Browsing via BlackBerry? Click here to view video

Microsoft announced their all new Windows Phone 7 OS today called Mango.  I came across a video they released where they show how their browser is better than other platforms.  In the video we see Windows Phone 7 go up against the iPhone. BlackBerry Torch 9800, and Android.  Unfortunately the Torch browser comes up a bit sluggish here and ends up having 4 frames per second, while the Windows phone shows 24 frames per second.

The BlackBerry PlayBook gets a really good web browser supporting flash, HTML 5, and pretty much looks just as it does on a PC.  The only issue is the smartphones now, which I’m hoping RIM spices it up a bit in OS 7.

Holzer Holzer & Fistel, LLC is currently investigating Research In Motion for potential violations of federal security laws from the company.  The potential violations may have occurred by a series of statements that may have been misleading.  The firm is investigating to see whether or not RIM knew about their misleading statements and decided to stay quiet about it or not.  It’s too early to know any other details or where the investigation is heading, but we’ll just have to wait and see.
