Each BlackBerry PlayBook carries a unique PIN, but you cannot BBM with it solely – it requires BlackBerry Bridge. At BlackBerry World 2011, RIM announced native email coming to the PlayBook this summer, but we’re left in the dark for BBM, assuming it will remain to be reliant on the Bridge service. So we want to hear your opinions. Would you want native BlackBerry Messenger on your BlackBerry PlayBook or do you like it bridged with your smartphone where you have all your same contacts and friends of yours don’t have to have you on their list for two devices? Cast your votes in the poll, tweet us, and drop us a line in the comments!

T-Mobile has launched their trade-in program for used phones at last. We were rumored about this months ago after RIM put out their trade-in program for BlackBerry smartphones, but it didn’t launch until now. Here’s how it works:
T-Mobile is dedicated to making the latest wireless devices and mobile Internet services more affordable to more people. Through the Trade-In program, customers can offset the cost of a new phone purchase by up to $300 with the trade in of their old device. Even devices from other wireless carriers are eligible as long as they meet the minimum criteria, i.e., being fully functional, having an intact and working display, and being free of liquid damage or corrosion.
But it’s not that easy. A T-Mobile rep has to determine the trade-in value of the device and check for amount that will be given back to the customer through a mail-in rebate, so don’t expect instant savings. Maybe you can save your trade-in for the BlackBerry Bold 9900 once it launches this summer. Continue reading for the full press release from T-Mobile.

I love taking photos using both the front facing and rear facing cameras on my BlackBerry PlayBook. With that said, it’s always nice to be able to do some image editing right on the spot on my tablet without having to resort to Adobe Photoshop on my computer. That’s where Touch Up Photo Editor-Pro comes in handy. Features include:
- Load pictured from your camera photo library
- Contrast/Brightness
- Hue/Saturation
- Rotation/Flip
- Cropping
- Red Eye Reduction
- Blur Filter
- Color Shifting
- Unlimited Undo/Redo
- Overwrite existing images or save as new ones

Last week I gave aVNC for BlackBerry PlayBook a try out to see how well it worked. The application is really simple when it comes to adding a PC to access. You need the IP address and port, and you’re good to go. I didn’t dig so hard into the gestures the application has but after updating to version 1.7 last night, I noticed a Controls screen comes up upon opening the app up showing click, zoom, and scroll functions. Of course the click and zoom worked before but I’m not sure if the scroll was always there. Any way, it’s now updated to version 1.7 which could be the add of the scroll, or just overall bug fixes.
aVNC for BlackBerry PlayBook is only $2.99 to purchase from BlackBerry App World.

The BlackBerry PlayBook can be a tablet for professionals, but it doesn’t mean we can’t have some fun with it on the side too. This app can be used both seriously and for fun, in this case, I used it for humor. Screamager is a message scroller and animation board. It’s great for any occasions. If you’re at a sporting event, picking someone up from the airport, messing with friends, keep in the car. With Screamager you can use preloaded images/phrases such as “fail”, “I’m with stupid”, or images like the blackberry logo, sad face, etc. Also, create your own phrases, choose the color display etc.
Screamager goes for only $0.99. Check it out in App World and grab a copy.

I’m sure you’re familiar with paddle ball. The same sport has been brought to BlackBerry in this “3D” format. You use the paddle to keep bouncing balls around in the room. Everytime your ball hits a wall or anything at all, you collect more points. It’s sort of like pinball, only a whole different kind of game. As you progress in the game, it gets harder and harder as the balls bounce faster. There’s an online leaderboard which keeps the competition and addiction going.
Paddle Ball 3D is currently 99 cents as a limited time sale, where it’s usually $1.99. Click the link below to check out more screenshots or to purchase.

It doesn’t look like it. Based on the photos we’re seeing, it looks like his BlackBerry was in a leather holster of some sort (maybe OEM). I think I saw this story published over ten times yesterday, so you may have seen it already. If you haven’t, then here’s the full scoop in a nut shell. President Obama was getting off his plane, landing in Memphis and his BlackBerry seemed to drop right out of his pocket as he was lightly jogging. It happens to us all. Whether your BlackBerry is in your hands, or in a loose pocket, there’s always a chance for a drop where you’ll get all sorts of scratches or even cracks. Hit the jump to see frame by frame (just about) of Obama dropping his BlackBerry in Memphis.
