In this video, we a recap from BlackBerry World where RIM Vice President of Product Marketing Alec Taylor discusses cloud services with BlackBerry and the partnership with Microsoft.  Cloud services seems to be quite in this season, and as you know Apple announced their free iCloud service for iOS5, which kind of pushes RIM to be red, white and blue about their services as well.

From a while back we already heard QNX would be coming to BlackBerry smartphones in the future, but obviously not for OS 7 as the devices are still not equipped with powerful enough processors yet.  According to RIM’s Vice President of GSM/UMTS, QNX running on BlackBerry smartphones is in the making but he can’t confirm when because he’s “not allowed.”  The target is aimed at dual core processors for BlackBerry smartphones which seems to be what’s appropriate for QNX OS.

The BlackBerry Bold 9700 and BlackBerry Curve 3G 9300 got an OS leak today.  This one’s OS 6.0.0.600, bringing you the latest OS version up to date.  The Curve 9300 seems pretty stable with OS 6, but we’re hoping the Bold 9700 is picking up and getting better as these updates release.  There’s two download mirrors for each device below.  Enjoy.

It’s just a theme folks so don’t get too excited.  For those who can’t wait for OS 7 to come out, this is a good step in the right direction.  Hedone Design does really well with themes, keeping them up to BlackBerry users’ standards but preventing them from lagging your device like many other themes do.  So here’s OS7Like, bringing you a home screen and full icons set from OS 7.

OS7Like is only $2.99 in the PocketBerry Store.  Click the link below to check out more screenshots or to purchase a copy today.

In the General tab of Option on the BlackBerry Playbook comes an Application Behavior.  This is where you can set how applications operate on your PlayBook.  There’s three different ones to choose from: Showcase, Default, and Paused.  Showcase keeps all your applications actively running at all times no matter what window you have open.  So if you have a video playing and want to switch to a game.  The video will continue playing in the background on top of the game.  In Default, an application stays active in the background until another application goes fullscreen.  Then lastly in Paused, all applications are paused until they are tapped by your finger.

Last time around we let you know when PaperPlane added a second level.  The game itself is very addictive, but sometimes it got boring playing the same level over and over.  Lucas from N4BB spotted a new level up today, and then I noticed there was another that I didn’t try before either.  There’s a street level and a roof top level added.  The rooftop level is fairly easy at first but look out for the window down below.. that’s all I’ll say.

Need for Speed Undercover for the BlackBerry PlayBook got an update to version 2.0 last night.  It went from version 1.3 to version 2.0, and surprisingly there is no change log.  As far as the game goes, we haven’t noticed anything new in the game.  Some are claiming load time is a bit faster, but I’m not seeing anything new from my end here.  If you spot anything new, drop us a line.

Is it just me or do the email shortcuts on the BlackBerry PlayBook keep coming back?  I understand how preloaded third party apps and web links go on BlackBerry smartphones, but you still have the right and freedom to delete them.  As we let you know earlier, after installing OS 1.0.5 on the BlackBerry PlayBook, the email web link shortcuts came back!  Later after deleting them, I noticed a Software Update available, but was still the same OS version I installed.  The update was only 6MB, so after installing, I noticed those email web links came back!

The BlackBerry Bold 9900 is set to launch no sooner than August, with some vague speculation that it could be delayed.  It’s typical that every time a device launches right around the corner, parts appear for it online.  TrueSupplier has always been a leader in showing parts for unreleased BlackBerry devices.  Last time around we saw them for the BlackBerry PlayBook, and that was also a little before launch time.  So nothing breaking here or out of the ordinary for us.  You can buy parts for the Bold 9900 including the keyboard, LCD screen, and USB connector replacement.  It’s funny that for the USB connector replacement it shows as mini rather than micro.  Not sure if this is a typo, or if the site is actually selling replacement connectors as mini thinking it’s the same as the Bold 9000.  Any way, you can browse the parts by clicking the link below.

YouMail, a popular voicemail application for BlackBerry smartphones just got an update to version 2.3.4.  For those who haven’t used YouMail before, it gives you visual voicemail differently than the native built into your BlackBerry.  It’s got a lot more bells and whistles to it as well.  Here’s the change log for this update:

One-Touch Community Greetings and Management - A new navigation bar lets you easily access greeting settings, like what greetings play for your callers, and how you want to handle “blocked” numbers. In addition, the YouMail greetings community, with tens of thousands of greetings, is just a few clicks away from within the app itself. Now, President Obama can select a greeting for his beloved Blackberry that sounds just like him without even having to record one!

Number Search Available In-App - It’s YouMail’s belief that once you receive a call from an unwanted number, you should never have to receive a call from that number again. In this latest update, YouMail’s Caller Search lets you quickly do a Google search right from the “menu” key, so you’ll know the real story behind any phone number you’re not familiar with.
