SugarSync 2.0 for BlackBerry is here.  From the look of it so far, the application got huge revamps with a nice face lift as well.  The UI has been changed with a better layout and better navigation throughout the whole application.  You can read more about all the UI changes over at the SugarSync blog.

WhatsApp Messenger, the cross platform messenger application got a small update this morning to version 2.6.4130.  Here’s the full change log:

• Message delivery improvements
• Group chat media viewing tweaks

And that’s all there is to it.  WhatsApp Messenger has grown to be very popular among BlackBerry smartphones and other OS platforms due to its light weight and of course cross platform chat capability.  Do you use WhatsApp?

BlackBerry News Feeds for BlackBerry smartphones has updated as the PlayBook gains the application natively.  Perhaps we’ll see some sort of syncing between the two, although I don’t see the purpose when you get the same feeds any way thanks to BlackBerry ID.  Any way, you can pick up BlackBerry News feeds version 1.0.1.7 at App World.  Some many not see the update available yet, but feel free to manually pull them using the links below.

It looks like RIM has officially launched BlackBerry News v1.0 for the BlackBerry Playbook.  If you think about it, the tablet really needed a native RSS feed reader.  The advantage? If you use BlackBerry News on your BlackBerry smartphone, it makes life easier using your PlayBook with it as well since it requires nothing but the sign-in of your BlackBerry ID.  So by doing so you’ll have access to all of your saved RSS feeds.

• The cool part of this application is that it uses swipe gestures your PlayBook is able to handle.  Here’s a few:
• Touching the “News Library” button feeds to easily find and add new feeds
• Using the BlackBerry PlayBook bezel drop-down gesture from the “My News” home screen pulls up the options menu to update content, or edit and delete any subscriptions
• Selecting a subscription provides an abbreviated summary view of articles within that  news feed, allowing for quick scanning of content
• Swiping left on the tablet screen turns the page

You can grab it free at BlackBerry App World for both your BlackBerry smartphone and BlackBerry PlayBook keeping your feeds organized.  The beauty about that is it recognizes your BlackBerry ID as soon as you download and open, no prompt required!

It looks like BlackBerry Desktop Manager for PC got an update yesterday to version 6.1.0.35, Bundle 34.  Here’s the full change log:

• Certificates -If your smartphone is associated with a BlackBerry® Enterprise Server, you can download, import, and synchronize certificates between your computer and your smartphone.
• Files -You can use the Files feature to copy files between your smartphone or tablet and your computer.
• Media files -You can now synchronize and import encrypted media files.
• Wi-Fi® music sync -You can use Wi-Fi music sync without launching the BlackBerry Desktop Software.

As far as weather apps for your BlackBerry, there are hundreds of them and it’s always hard cyphering through the mix to find the one that will work best for you and provide all the information you need without having to go to more than one place. Because of a preloaded application that comes with the PlayBook we have discovered AccuWeather which also works for BlackBerry Phones. This application has a well-designed interface that begins with entry of a zip code or allows you to use GPS to populate weather information pertinent to you location.

Stocks+ for BlackBerry got an update to version 1.3.  In this update, more features have been added included company related news so you can see what’s in with the stock you’re looking into.  Usually stock applications give you only what stocks are being traded at, and nothing else.  Now with the Stocks+ update you get much more.  Here’s the full change log:

Currently SHAPE is holding their open beta for IM+ but they still have their official IM+ Pro application which just got updated yesterday.  Unfortunately there is no change log available here as it may just be a small jump leading to bug fixes and things of that nature.  If you spot anything new and improved in the app, share it with us!
