BlackBerry DEVCON Asia will be held in December in Bangkok, Thailand with specific dates to be announced shortly. BlackBerry DEVCON Europe will follow in Amsterdam, February 7 & 8, 2012.

BlackBerry DevCon Europe will be held at the Amsterdam Rai Convention Centre and DevCon Asia still remains to be unknown exactly where or the exact date but we know it wil lbe in Bangkok, Thailand.  Click the links for more info about the events.

Another OS leak has surfaced for a BlackBerry device that has not hit the market yet.  This one goes out to the BlackBerry Curve 9360 and gets OS 7.0.0.182.  There’s really not much of anything to do with the OS leak other than rip updated apps out of it, maybe get some tutorial videos, and more depending on how clever these hybriders can get.

FileScout for BlackBerry just got an update adding a few new features, bug fixes, and support for the BlackBerry Bold 9900 and BlackBerry Torch 9850.  That’s interesting to see the developers this ahead of the game, but good to know that apps will be available from launch date.

  • Bold 9900 adjustments to meet the new resolution
  • BlackBerry 9850 (Monaco) adjustments to meet the new aspect ratio
  • When you have selected multiple items via multi-touch, then the selection can be canceled by pressing the ESC key
  • Fix for LOG, XML, INI & TXT ContentHandler Registration (e.g. opening these file types directly from the eMail-Client)
  • Changes to the ContentHandlers (LOG, XML, INI & TXT) (vie the File Association Options) will be applied instantly and does not require a Device reboot any longer
  • TextEditor now have the option to enable AutoComplete & SpellCheck
  • Multiple other minor bugfixes

Download the latest update from My Account or purchase a copy from the PocketBerry Store.

Rumors »

There were rumors floating around about RIM developing a 10 inch BlackBerry PlayBook with lots of great specs.  It was confusing seeing RIM take that path, since their smartphone technology has been left behind years ago.  So according to this new rumor from N4BB, RIM has cancelled their project on developing a 10 inch BlackBerry PlayBook and is instead focusing on a BlackBerry “superphone” with some pretty sweet specs:

  • 1.2GHz processor (single or dual)
  • 900+ screen resolution
  • 4.3″ touchscreen

With the recent declines RIM is facing, seeing them develop a new phone with specs to compete with what’s out there today seems a lot more feasible than developing a bigger PlayBook.

We were all expecting the delay, since RIM came out already and said that the device would be postponed til later.  At first Three UK posted up the BlackBerry Bold 9900 as coming soon in August, and now they have changed it to September.  Hopefully one month is all the delays we’ll see for the device but time will tell.

ImmorTall is a free game I came across in App World for the BlackBerry PlayBook.  The gameplay is quite easy as you’re protecting the humans from getting shot up by soliders.  There’s many ways to look at the story line here.  What it looks like is world domination and soldiers are killing off humans, and you’re an alien protecting them.  The music, animations, colors, and sounds made when shots are fired make the game very emo-like, giving you a different vibe in mobile gaming.  Spoiler: the game is not long, so I refer to it as a mini-game.  The game description reads “Take a poignant walk through the life of an alien caught in the midst of humanity.”
