Facebook for BlackBerry v2.0 has gone through another update, this one also in BlackBerry Beta Zone.  This is the fourth beta out for v2.0 and we keep seeing more enhancements in each.  Beta 4 of Facebook for BlackBerry v2.0 adds enhanced integration with native apps and a few other goodies. Here’s the full change log:

  • Enhanced Notifications – users will now be notified of polled items, such as ‘Likes’ and Event Wall posts.
  • Cross-Channel Messaging – Deep integration of Facebook with core BlackBerry applications allows users to share Facebook Content across BlackBerry Messaging Applications. An example includes sending News Feed items to other messaging applications, like email, SMS, BBM, Twitter and more.
  • Enhanced Integration with BlackBerry Native Apps – Building on enhanced integration with BlackBerry Native Apps, Facebook v2.0 now includes additional messaging options from the ‘More’ button within a Profile and from the Friends list.
  • In-App Error Reporting – Users can install the BlackBerry Feedback Tool through the Menu in the Facebook for BlackBerry smartphones app. The BlackBerry Feedback Tool can be used to send feedback on BlackBerry features, functions, and applications at any time and is currently available in English only.
  • Touch Toolbar – BlackBerry smartphone users with a touch screen device will now have Compose, Reply, and Delete icons located along the bottom of the device screen in the Facebook Inbox for quick and easy access to these popular features.

You can grab the full update at BlackBerry Beta Zone.

A few days ago I noticed that my favorite BlackBerry PlayBook game of the moment called Dillo Hills started lagging (running very slow overall) and the graphics were pretty pixelated.  It appears that others including Susan have been having this issue, particularly with Dillo Hills, and it seems to be related to the last OS update we received last week on the BlackBerry PlayBook.  If you recall, the update included Adobe Flash 10.3, and Adobe Air 2.7 compatibility.  We want to know if any of you guys have experienced similar issues with this game, or any other application or game on the PlayBook.  Drop us a line!

I went browsing through BlackBerry App World on my PlayBook and stumbled across Meteorstorm by Terry Paton. The object of the game is to destroy the meteors falling from a meteor storm from destroying your space base. The meteors are destroyed by shooting them. Meteorstorm has 12 levels, and can be played on easy, medium, or hard.

If you like to make music this app is for you. Check out Steppy Step Sequencer for the BlackBerry PlayBook. With Steppy, you can create your own drum beats, just by setting up your sequencer. Also, you can stop, and start your drum beats and clear what you’ve done to start fresh. What I really like about the app is you can change the tempo with a BPM slider.

It’s already been confirmed that we’re getting the BlackBerry Bold 9900 a little later than expected.  Right now it’s looking like the end of the summer, but for many it seems too optimistic to wish for.  As always, early reviews tend to surface the web for unreleased devices, so the Bold 9900 got one as well.  The folks over at Engadget show the device at all angles and exemplify how much of an improvement the device is from previous BlackBerry smartphones.  It looks like the Bold being used is an early “beta” model as it says “Brand” on the back rather than “Bold.”  If you haven’t seen the Bold 9900 in action yet, check out our video overview or Engadget’s review.

I’m a fan of OtterBox cases, even though I enjoy my BlackBerry caseless most of the time.  It looks like they’re ahead of the game and have put up previews for the BlackBerry Bold 9900/9930 cases.  The good news is that the Bold 9900 series will be getting all three grades: Impact, Commuter, and Defender.  Click the link below to check them out and sign up to be notified when they’re available.

It’s a ritual for devices to come up on CelleBrite systems before their launch date.  In this instance we see the BlackBerry Bold 9930 and BlackBerry Torch 9850 come up.  CelleBrite is the system used by wireless carrier stores for transferring contacts in such for mobiles.  Seeing both of these devices come up in CDMA means we should be seeing them release in the near future, hopefully for both Verizon and Sprint.
