Scrapbook is the application we saw way back when with TAT (The Astonishing Tribe) demonstrated before the launch of the PlayBook.  It officially launched during BlackBerry World this year free in BlackBerry App World.  It signed to RIM obviously since they acquired TAT.  So any way, the app just went through an update to version 1.1.0.4.  Here’s the change log:

  • Share Scrapbooks on your Facebook wall
  • New postcard and summer themes
  • Multitasking
  • Delete Scrapbooks

Just as we let you know last week, Boost Mobile BlackBerry Style 9670 is coming soon.  The date we were told was July 20th, while the website suggests just as “coming soon.”  There was some confusion online about pricing of the device but as we also let you know, it’s marked as $199.99 to buy.

Phone Remote allows you to use your BlackBerry smartphone live right on your PlayBook over WiFi.  As this may not be useful for many, it’s a cool to mess around with and something to show off to your friends.  You get controls on screen including the trackpad, BlackBerry button, send, end, and back.  You also get the keyboard to bring up at any time.  Phone Remote requires an app on both your PlayBook and your BlackBerry smartphone.  Click the link below to check out more on Phone Remote.

As of July 20th, Virgin Mobile will be introducing their new plan pricing along with the convenience of dropping BlackBerry fees completely.  The original solid plan the carrier offered was 300 minutes with unlimited text and web for only $25.  Now it’s going up to $35.  Here’s the full plans and pricing:
  • 300 minute plan at $25, will be $35
  • 1200 minute plan at $40, will be $45
  • Unlimited plan at $60, will be $55

So the plans are bumped up a little bit more, but if you’re a BlackBerry user, you don’t have to worry about paying the extra with the new pricing plan.

RIM held their Annual Meeting in Waterloo bringing up some interesting info for the future of BlackBerry.  This year’s event is getting a bit more exposure than usual, as investors and people all over the world are curious to see what RIM has planned for its future.  CrackBerry attended the event and did some live blogging, pointing out some nice future plans RIM has.
Firstly, the BlackBerry 4G PlayBook is set to launch officially this fall.  That’s narrows it down to the few months in fall, but at least we know it is coming soon.  The 4G PlayBook was originally set to officially release in June, but there were all sorts of delay and Sprint ended up just getting the WiFi model which doesn’t really suffice for those who were waiting since April.

It’s been great seeing the BlackBerry Bold 9900 and other devices get confirmed by all sorts of carriers across the world. The only issue we’re facing now is US carriers.  All we’ve really got now is a solid for T-Mobile on the Bold 9900 but AT&T remains silent.  NerdBerry put out a rumor about some launch dates for the BlackBerry Torch 9810 in the US.  It looks like it may be headed to both T-Mobile and AT&T.  AT&T seems to be launching the Torch 9810 in September, while T-Mobile is expected to get it in November.  Not a huge deal for T-Mobile customers, as they are pretty much getting first dibs on the Bold 9900, which seems to be the biggest hype at the moment any way.

A few days ago, rumors surfaced about new BlackBerry devices coming to Bell.  Here’s an image from what looks to be an internal slideshow for Bell showing four new devices coming: Bold 9900, Torch 9810, Torch 9860, and Curve 9360.  It looks like both Telus and Bell will be carrying all four devices as well.  These devices are all scheduled to launch towards the end of August, according to the rumor.  But for now we know the devices will be available for the carrier.

Just as we’re super excited for BlackBerry App World 3.0 to launch, the app got an update to version 2.1.4.9.  There’s no change log on this one, but it’s a big tease seeing an update available when we’re eager for 3.0 to come around.  Some of you may not be getting the update pushed just yet but you can download it manually through your browser here.
