It looks like OS 6.0.0.600 is really going around to all “in this season” BlackBerry devices.  It started off as a leak, but surprisingly carriers all over the world picked it up.  The biggest shocker was AT&T picking it up for the Torch 9800 since they’re always behind in that as a carrier.  Now we’re seeing the OS launch for the forgotten BlackBerry Style 9670 and the BlackBerry Curve 9330.  Both these OS builds come from GCI.

Surprisingly AT&T has picked up OS 6.0.0.600 officially for the BlackBerry Torch 9800.  We’re used to seeing the OS builds come out way late with AT&T, but they came through well right now bringing a pretty stable OS to the table.  You can download it officially using the link below.

The BlackBerry Torch 9860 is RIM’s full touchscreen device that appears to be larger than any other touchscreen BlackBerry we’ve had yet.  We posted up a few months ago how in landscape mode you see 6 icons across rather than just four, but this has a lot to do with the higher screen resolution provided.  In any case, here’s a few more photos of the device giving you a good front, back, and About screen.  Hit the jump for the gallery.

Blaq was pretty much the first full Twitter client on the BlackBerry PlayBook, and in my opinion remains to be the best one available.  It updated earlier this morning to version 1.1 adding a bunch of new features.  Here’s the change log:

It’s a good time for stores and restaurants to start picking up contactless payments (we call it NFC), especially with mobile devices such as BlackBerry supporting it in the near future.  McDonald’s Canada has rolled out MasterCard PayPass which allows you to make transactions by bringing your wallet with the card inside close to the scanner or mobile phone that’s supported.  Given that BlackBerrys aren’t equipped with NFC technology yet, we won’t be able to enjoy it for now.  Hit the jump for the full press release from McDonald’s and MasterCard.

Yesterday the news broke out that the BlackBerry Style 9670 is coming to Boost Mobile, but we haven’t heard any official announcement just yet.  It’s a huge deal for the device to enter the prepaid market as prepaid carriers are always known to carry lower end devices, BlackBerry or not.  At the moment Boost Mobile carries the BlackBerry Curve 8520, ideal for anyone entering the BlackBerry world for the first time, but not appealing to those already in the game.

We got word that Boost Mobile stores can start preordering their Style 9670 devices from their Boost suppliers for a July 20th launch date.  There’s no word on when they will ship out but the retail price is still firm at $199.99.

The BlackBerry Bold 9000 is the first generation of the Bold family, but it’s still very much around and is featured in a bunch of movies still. (Due Date, Wall Street, etc).  Any way, a new OS for it has been leaked surprisingly.  Here’s OS 5.0.0.1079 for the Bold 9000.  Download and install at your own risk!

If you’re a fan of Tetris, then you’ll love Color Invasion Tetris which gives you similar game play but with a little different vibe.  Here you get blocks coming down with different colors and you have to align them with other same colored blocks to eliminate them.  Features include:

  • even the most complex forms are recognized
  • the pieces split in two when they hit edges
  • BOMBS appear on the board to help you clear part of the board
  • the pieces are made of differently colored squares, the whole board is like a colorful mozaic

Color Invasion Tetris is currently 99 cents to grab from the PocketBerry Store as a sale price.  Click the link below for more info, screenshots, or just to purchase a copy today.

Finally we see a change log for Air Browser.  It seems like almost ever week we see a small bump update, but rarely any change log.  This time around Air Browser updated to version 1.11 adding a text editor.  This allows you to create quick notes to save in specific folders you designate which can be cool.  I look at it as the memo pad in BlackBerry OS where you can pull it up fairly fast and punch in any quick memos or notes you need.
