We heard the rumor that it was going to launch today and thankfully it was true. It’s a nice two for one deal as RIM has officially released Facebook v2.0 for both the BlackBerry PlayBook and BlackBerry smartphones today. Facebook 2.0 for BlackBerry smartphones has been in beta for a few months now, and it’s good to see a nice “stable” build to launch officially for everyone, rather than just Beta Zone members. Here’s the change log for Facebook 2.0 on the PlayBook and smartphones:

Yesterday we were informed about a consumer event going on in Toronto called BlackBerry 7 Fan Night, and today it looks like RIM is passing out some invitations for people to attend it. So all you have to do is tweet 7 words on how BlackBerry helps you or makes you more social. But that’s not all as this is only round 1! So get your tweet on and make sure you put #BB7FanNight as a hashtag in your tweet.

Sprint is doing away with the BlackBerry Bold 9650, Style 9670 and Curve 3G. So what’s to replace them now? It looks like the BlackBerry Bold 9900 will replace the Bold 9650, Curve 9350 to replace the Curve 3G 9330, and Torch 9850 to replace the Style 9670.

We’ve seen both the BlackBerry Torch 9810 and BlackBerry Torch 9850 in many photos and leaked video reviews already. What we haven’t seen is stock images of them and here are two that popped up. On the left is the Torch 9810 which shares the same form factor as the original Torch 9800. On the right is the Torch 9850 which is a whole new design brought out by RIM and gets a 9860 with flush keys rather than this one that contains pop out ones. No big news here, but we’re getting warmer on a launch date perhaps.

It’s been a bit baffling with the device branding for a little while when it comes to RIM’s touchscreen devices for the future. That includes the 9810, 9850, and 9860. For some time in the beginning the 9850/9860 was referred to as the Touch, but that soon faded out and became the Torch. The 9810 was a bit obvious for us to be branded as a Torch since it carried the same form factor as the previous 9800.

When Foursquare 3.0 first came in Alpha for BlackBerry, users were able to integrate it with BBM6. Now in version 3.1, the feature is back and open for everyone else as well. For the update it says “includes BBM6 and incremental update to the UI and app performance.” So maybe nothing noticeable much in the UI but BBM6 integration is the biggest chunk in the deal as most were disabled from trying it out before. Download it free at App World!

Surely RIM leaks stuff out by accident, but so do carriers! Verizon has put up a BlackBerry Bold 9930 demo by accident when browsing video for the Bold 9650. We’ve seen the Verizon Bold 9930 ads show up on Google before and now this! Not your average accident, but pretty cool for those who were iffy about a Verizon BlackBerry Bold 9930 hitting the streets. To see the video on Verizon’s website, simply click here then navigate over to one of the videos and you’ll see that it’ a 9930, unless Verizon changes it by now. For those who miss it, check out the full clip after the jump!

Last week the Android Player for BlackBerry PlayBook leaked out. Since then, people have been putting in work and testing out its full potential with Android apps that work. The folks over at BBH put together a nice list of applications that work on Android Player for BlackBerry PlayBook. WordRival, the Words With Friends replica for BlackBerry smartphones has landed for the BlackBerry PlayBook. Before I go any further, I have to say that I haven’t tried this game out yet on the PlayBook. From reading the reviews, it’s getting a bit of negativity that the board is way to small and should be bigger since it’s being played on a tablet. Some are even suggesting to wait it out for Words With Friends to be brought over to it through Android Player for PlayBook. Either way, you can grab it for only $2.99 from App World – check it out!
