Tag Attack was brought to our attention by RIM, who are currently promoting Tag Attack as a game built using Adobe AIR 2.7. As a result, Tag Attack is a great game for the BlackBerry PlayBook and highly addictive. It’s a space shooter game where you fly around space in your ship and destroy enemy ships as they approach you. The controls are easy – just drag your finger around to your targets and you’ll shoot by tapping the screen. There are power ups to pick up including bombs, shield repairs, and temporary better aim accuracy power ups.

UbiNav for BlackBerry is another GPS application to hop on to offering pretty much what the others do (generally). Turn by turn GPS navigation as well as local searches to find out what’s around you and to navigate there as well. UbiNav just got a nice update support Verizon customers at last, as they were blocked off before. There’s a bunch of other new features added. Here’s the full change log:

While browsing on BlackBerry.com/PlayBook, I noticed the how to demos section where there’s a bunch of how to’s and tutorials for the PlayBook for those who don’t believe in trial and error. I know the PlayBook has been out for quite a bit now, and some of you know the tablet inside out, but it’s still launching to other markets in the world. Even if you don’t own the PlayBook yet, you should check it out.

For those who don’t know, 7Digital Music Store is the native music store application on the BlackBerry PlayBook and is offered on BlackBerry smartphones as a Super App. Here’s a quick list of reasons I put together as to why you should use 7Digital Music Store. If you’re stuck on torrents and don’t believe in purchasing music at all, then you may not be enlightened by any of this.

It was awkward having no icon for application in the Categories section for BlackBerry App World on the PlayBook. Before the categories were all spread out, and now it’s been narrowed down to Apps and Games as two categories, then sub-categories within each. Not breaking news here, but it’s nice to see that RIM finally put an icon for Apps, as there was none at all before while Games had one.
Thanks for the tip James!

Digital compass is a nice feature built into the next generation BlackBerry devices sporting BlackBerry 7 OS. So far we’ve seen it in leaked screenshots, but haven’t had a good look at it in video. Here’s a nice clip from MacBerry, who’s been doing a fair amount of leaks lately with the BlackBerry Torch 9860 showing off the digital compass.

The BlackBerry Torch family also gets the same OS leak fix as the Bold 9900/9930. This one goes out to the BlackBerry Torch 9850 and 9860, leaving the 9810 behind. It’s also Os 7.0.0.261 and we assume there will also be some apps to pull out of this one too for current Torch users.
