RIM has put out a series of tutorial videos on their YouTube channel that are very useful for those just getting involved in BlackBerry devices.  This video shows you how to send files to a contact in BlackBerry Messenger, which people don’t really take advantage of.  In BBM, you can send files up to 6MB to any friends on your list.  This allows you to send photos, videos, music, ringtones, and voicenotes.  You can pretty much send anything you have on your BlackBerry to another contact as long as it is within 6MB.  Any way, here’s a video demonstrating how it’s all done.

I’m not sure about some of you, but I am a long time BlackBerry user. For those who remember having 64mbs of internal memory, and only have 30mbs or less of FREE space. (that seemed to disappear in a couple of days) How about when we would review new or updated applications and we would make sure we warned everyone how big the file is!

We can really see how far BlackBerry has developed over the years. Now we have apps that are 5mbs and larger, and devices that have 512mbs to 8gb of memory. With increased memory on devices that’s fewer battery pulls, fewer hourglasses appearing, which means more time being productive, gaming, or networking with friends and family.

I remember when RIM changed the icons and category tabs in App World for the PlayBook back in July. Well it looks like RIM has made another change. Now when opening up App World you have four tabs now:

  • Featured
  • Apps
  • Games
  • MyWorld

There are many flashlight applications out there, some free, and some that are actually premium (yeah, it’s silly).  Some still prefer using video camera and enabling the light by pressing space bar or enabling it in options.  So for those who still are seeking an application, FlashController is the newest app you can get, and it’s free.  Features include:

  • Open Flash light on BlackBerry®
  • Friendly user interface
  • Support OS5, OS6 and OS7
  • Easy to use
  • You can close the screen light when flash was opened
  • Always on if you want

Fixmo Tools is an application that really gives you 17 apps all in one.  The way I see it, Fixmo Tools is more like a combination of a bunch of features you wish you had in your BlackBerry already.  Applications include Screenshot for taking screenshots of your current BlackBerry screen, WiFi File Transfter and Media Backup, Remote Print, and many more.  As a Deal of the Day special, you can save 53% on Fixmo T00ls and get it for only $6.99 as it’s usually $14.99.  Click the link below to check out more screenshots or to grab a copy today!

T-Mobile has finally officially launched the BlackBerry Bold 9900 here in the United States.  We were waiting for the GSM carriers to get it, and after the long wait T-Mobile finally did.  AT&T still remains as “coming soon” for the device.  Any way, just as a quick recap on pricing, we got $299.99 for the Bold 9900 after a $50 mail-in rebate.  Click the link below to check it out online or head over to a T-Mobile store and grab one yourself!

The BlackBerry Torch 9860 has officially launched for Telus yesterday.  It’s been a bit hectic keeping up with all the launches as we have four new BlackBerry devices released by RIM, so we’re seeing all sorts of launches every week.  The Torch 9860 is the all touchscreen BlackBerry which replaces the old Storm series.  As we’ve mentioned in previous posts, RIM refers to this series Torch as a multimedia powerhouse with the large display screen and high resolution.  Pricing for the device goes as follows:

  • No term $549.99
  • 1 year term $499.99
  • 2 year term $449.99
  • 3 year term $99.99

BlackBerry Messenger has just updated in BlackBerry Beta Zone a couple of hours ago. It looks like this update is NOT for users currently participating in BBM Music, so I myself will not be participating in this one. As far as changes, this beta release includes support for subscription payments for enabled applications. Perhaps some bug fixes, but nothing else is noted in the account. Head over to BlackBerry Beta Zone to download the new update.

If you need to check the correct spelling of a word or find a synonym or antonym for one, then there’s an all in one application you can download for the BlackBerry PlayBook.  It’s pretty straight forward to use once you’re in the application.  You type in a word, click go and from there you’ll see the definition on the left and synonyms on the right hand side.  The app is free to download from BlackBerry App World so click the link below and check it out.

The folks over at DirectFix have managed to disassemble the BlackBerry Bold 9900 completely.  It’s always nice to see BlackBerry devices get torn apart after launch so we know what to expect in the event of changing parts.  Plus it’s always interesting to see what the guts inside look like.  I’m not one to mess with opening up BlackBerry devices and hope I never have to either. Enjoy the clip!
