Music Store on PlayBook powered by 7Digital, Music Store on OS 7 powered by Amazon MP3 – Why?

At BlackBerry World earlier this year when the BlackBerry Bold 9900/9930 was originally announced, we learned that the device would carry on Amazon MP3 as the provider for the native Music Store.  By then the BlackBerry PlayBook already was launched and has its music store powered by 7Digital.  When that was first announced on the PlayBook, I thought it was cool they went with 7Digital where you can have the app on your BlackBerry and PlayBook sharing the same music library all the time.

Now that RIM went with Amazon MP3 for the Bold 9900 and all other OS 7 devices, music libraries are separated (assuming you purchase your music). For me, I purchase a lot through 7Digital on the PlayBook, and then redownload it again on my BlackBerry smartphone or vice versa.  I’m in a position to now to start off a new library with Amazon MP3 (doubtful), or just download 7Digital as a third party app on my new Bold and keep the ball rolling.

I just don’t see why RIM would go from 7Digital to Amazon MP3.  If they’re going with the switch, they should make all BlackBerry platforms share the same app.
