BerryWeather for BlackBerry hasn’t had an update in quite a while. It remains to be one of the more popular weather apps for BlackBerry, even with its higher price tag than the others. Last night it updated to version 2.6.12 adding some nice features and some we expected. OS 7 has launched officially on devices including the Bold 9900 and Torch 9810 so far. With that said, users need apps and this update supports OS 7 users. BBM 6 integration was also added, which I expected Bellshare to hop on that wagon too. Here’s the full change log:
- Adjusted day/night background images for higher resolution screens on OS 7.0
- Added native sendmenu for sharing weather on OS 7.0 (Facebook, Twitter, BBM etc)
- Added native sendmenu on OS 7.0 for sharing weather advisory
- Added new compact forecast style/configurable POP visibility
- Added support for multiple built-in maps
- Added auto-dismissing popup showing detailed error information when location update fails
- Reworked license screen
- Reworked settings categories screen
- Minor changes to theme colors
- Fixed error on first load of radar map
For those who don’t have a copy yet, you can grab BerryWeather from the PocketBerry Store.

Finally some new US BlackBerry news! Everything lately has been around Canada as they had first dibs on devices starting with the Bold 9900. According to these memos leaked out, Sprint is expected to get the BlackBerry Bold 9930 and BlackBerry Torch 9850 on August 21st. The last we heard was that Sprint would be carrying the new BlackBerry devices in fall, so this does come off a bit confusing. Any way, here’s the pricing for both:
- BlackBerry Torch 9850 – $449.99 outright, $149.99 with 2 year contract
- BlackBerry Bold 9930 - $499.99 outright, $249.99 with a 2 year contract
So the Bold is a bit more than the Torch. Keep in mind the Bold does get NFC capability which the Torch is currently lacking. If you need the best of both worlds (touchscreen and real QWERTY keyboard), then the Bold is for you. Torch is targeted more towards full touchscreen lovers in best hopes to draw attention away from Android and iOS devices.

The lucky Canadians got the BlackBerry Bold 9900 officially starting today. Some may have been in search for some new OS builds to install so here’s one to pop your cherry. OS 7.0.0.317 is the latest OS for the Bold 9900, although it isn’t known what’s different in this build. The last OS we had was .296, so it’s not a huge jump here, but maybe big enough to do away with some bugs encountered before perhaps.

The mysterious BlackBerry Curve 9360 which has yet to be announced by RIM up until now is headed to Koodo Mobile. Last week there was speculation that the Curve 9360 has built in NFC, which raised some anger for folks interested in the Torch 9810 and 9860. Any way, the price for it from Koodo Mobile looks to be $300.

So I have had quite a few people, who have asked me the same questions. “Where did my list of applications go in Beta App World?” Being that App World 3.0 is still in beta there are probably bugs that still need to be worked out. While looking further into this, I noticed that when the “My World” option was accessed there was no applications shown in any of the categories (installed, uninstalled, or subscriptions).
After playing around in App World 3.0 for a while, I noticed that once you went into “My World” then pressed menu and “refresh list”, all your list of apps come back. Everything that is installed and uninstalled.
