It’s been a while since we let you know about new BlackBerry devices hitting our phone store, especially since there hasn’t been much action when it comes to new devices launching in a very long time.  Currently at the PocketBerry Phone Store, we are offering the BlackBerry Bold 9930 for both Verizon and Sprint for $199 on a two year contract.  No need to fill out rebate forms to get anything back – pay the bottom line price from the get go and be worry free.

Whether you’re opening a new contract or upgrading, the price remains the same.  Check out the BlackBerry Bold 9930 using the links below.

Tetris, the awesome game that comes preloaded on the BlackBerry PlayBook along with Need For Speed got an update earlier this morning (or at least that’s when it came up for me).  The update is to version 2.2 and unfortunately does not include a change log.  I haven’t had the change to play around with the game much after but if you spot anything new or different, let us know!

OS Updates »

Last night BlackBerry Bridge got an update, which made us suspect that the PlayBook would also get an update since both usually get it at the same time.  So for the BlackBerry PlayBook, the new OS is 1.0.7.2942.  Here’s the full change log from RIM:

  • Improved Wi-Fi® connectivity to WEP networks
  • Faster pairing between a BlackBerry smartphone and BlackBerry PlayBook tablet via the BlackBerry® Bridge™ app, and faster attachment opening via BlackBerry Bridge.

You can update from the options menu on your PlayBook over the air.  The update is 80MB which is nice to see rather than the full OS loading over from scratch.

bh android

BH Android is a new theme I came across in our app store that’s pretty much inspired by Android OS, obviously with the name its given.  From the description of BH Android, it looks to be based off of the HTC Sense.  Included in the theme, you’ll get a custom HTC style launcher which allows you to access the phone, apps, and profiles with ease.  You get room for eight apps in total on the home screen which is always a plus to carry more apps in front of you rather than constantly bringing up the app menu to view all.  The clock is also HTC inspired as you can see.  Check out more screenshots or grab a copy using the link below.

ATTRoadmap2H2011

A new roadmap for AT&T has leaked out, which to me sounds like what we need since the BlackBerry Bold 9900 launch for the carrier is in limbo.  Unfortunately the BlackBerry Bold 9900 is not on here which troubles me a bit since I am an AT&T customer.  On the bright side, both the Torch 9860 and Curve 9360 are mentioned in the roadmap.  All we see here is that both devices are set to launch in Q4 which still seems a bit generic in saying since the year is coming to a close end any way.  A month would help, but at least we know AT&T will be picking up the new Curve which RIM just announced.

Getting back to the BlackBerry Bold 9900, I doubt AT&T is doing away with the device and am hoping they had originally planned for an earlier launch date before releasing this internal roadmap.

blackberry bridge 1056 update

It looks like the BlackBerry Bridge app got updated to version1.0.5.6.  Not everyone may be seeing the update yet, but it is rolling out.  It’s tradition that when Bridge gets a bump up like this, we see the BlackBerry PlayBook get an update as well.  There hasn’t been any rumors a PlayBook OS rolling this soon, but it would be oh so kind of RIM to roll out 2.0 with some nice features including native email (calendar, memo, etc) and Android Player.  Now that’s too much to ask for in one update I think.  Any way, Bridge is up in App World, but once again the update might not be reached to everyone just yet.  Enjoy!

If you haven’t heard of BlackBook before, it’s an application that allows you to keep a hidden address book right on your BlackBerry smartphone.  Even conversations you have with those contacts are filtered in BlackBook so you can’t see them in SMS/Email inboxes or the public phone log.  On the home screen you don’t even get an icon for the application, so it’s not like someone can open it up by curiosity or accident.  Simply you set a customizable launch key which consists of five keys you press that will launch BlackBook.  So now that you get the gist of it, here’s some new features version 4.0 brings:

  • BlackBerry OS 7 Compatibility
  • Multiple Email Addresses for contacts
  • Revamped App Interface
  • HTML Email Supported
  • User Pics in Contact List
  • Various speed enhancements
BlackBook for BlackBerry is $3.99 to purchase from the PocketBerry Store.  The main idea behind the app is to keep contacts a secret, so if that’s something you must do with the life you lead, then you definitely need this app.

The application market has become a benchmark of the mobile phone industry in a relatively short period of time. Software developers are constantly coming up with new apps and ways to make our lives increasingly mobile. We’re getting to the point that we can do almost anything from our phones like balance our budget, check movie times, and pay our bills. These features and apps have expanded the uses of our phones far beyond the traditional call based approach, and have allowed developers to think outside the box and come up with newer ways for us to use our phones. Cloud Computing Services is the next great tool that will aid the evolution of the mobile industry and propel it in exciting and inventive ways:

Along with Virgin Mobile, Telus and Rogers have also made their announcement in launching the BlackBerry Curve 9360 in the near future.  So there’s three Canadian carriers off the bat that are guaranteed to get it.  We previously saw leaked screenshots showing a BlackBerry Curve 9360 launching for Bell, but the carrier has yet to say something about it yet.  I’m sure in a few hours we’ll see Bell come out of the closet and make their announcement on the new device.  Of course the GSM carriers in the United States haven’t made any mention of it.  All we have is Sprint who was first to announce the CDMA Curve 9350 earlier this morning.  Telus announced the device fresh on their site while Rogers made a quick announcement on Twitter.

Now we have another announcement for the all new BlackBerry Curve.  Virgin Mobile announced on Twitter that they will be carrying the new BlackBerry Curve 9360.  There’s no pricing, launch dates, or any other details just yet but we’ll be seeing more soon I’m sure.  It looks like the Curve is going to go on tour all over world to many carriers as we’ve seen with the previous generations.  Is anyone excited or tuned in to this device?
