quicklaunch for os7

QuickLaunch for BlackBerry updated over the weekend to v3.8.2.  In this release, it simply adds support to OS 7 devices.  For those who haven’t heard of QuickLaunch before, it’s a convenient application which adds a new menu to your BlackBerry with customizable content including applications, contacts, messages, Bluetooth or Wifi toggling and more.

I think QuickLaunch has become even more of a necessity now on OS 7 devices since they all have one convenience key rather than the usual two.  Check out more features or grab a copy using the link below.

We’ve seen the Angry Birds alternatives for BlackBerry smartphones already, but we haven’t really seen anything for the BlackBerry PlayBook – until now!  Introducing Angry Apes, the Angry Birds knock off now available for the PlayBook.  In Angry Apes, you play as the big monkey where you fire a canon at birds to get your bananas back.  Each level provides a new obstacle with enhanced difficulty to make it harder each time.

We already let you know about AT&T officially launching the BlackBerry Torch 9810 yesterday, and along with that release came Sprint with two new devices as well – the Torch 9850 and Bold 9930.  The Bold 9930 is being offered for $199, a bit cheaper than what T-Mobile has it out for.  The Torch 9850 gets a price tag of $199 with a $50 mail-in rebate.  Check out both devices using the links below.

AT&T has finally launched the BlackBerry Torch 9810 officially today.  This is the first 4G BlackBerry smartphone to launch for the carrier so it’s really exciting to see the speeds delivered in both the device’s OS itself and the internet.  The 4G Torch goes for only $49.99 with a 2 year contract, becoming the cheapest BlackBerry you can get on launch date.  With no strings attached you can pick it up for $449.99.

Yesterday we got a screenshot from a T-Mobile tipster letting us know that they received BlackBerry Bold 9900 dummy units.  There’s no word on getting the actual devices on back shelves but I’m sure we’ll see that closer to launch date.  We’ve seen the Bold 9900 already but this is the first GSM carrier in the U.S. to pick this up.  We’re still waiting on AT&T to come out of the closet on the device, but they are picking up the BlackBerry Torch 9810 exclusively in the United States and will be available August 21st.

The T-Mobile BlackBerry Bold 9900 holds a price of $299.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate.  I know the Bold 9900 is a great device, but will customers still tune into it at such a high premium?

Thanks Bogizo for the tip!

The BlackBerry Bold 9900/9930 and other OS 7 devices record video in awesome quality.  For those who haven’t gotten their hands on an OS 7 device yet, I figured it would be nice to check out some options available such as video recording options.  You can record videos in 720p HD, which is a huge improvement to see in a BlackBerry.

Yesterday we let you know that Dead Space by EA Games has made its way to the BlackBerry PlayBook.  It’s grown in popularity already on the Apple iPad, so it was nice to see EA match it up with PlayBook support.  We didn’t get into the game play much when we let you know about it as we were excited to try out first hand.  So here’s some screenshots of the game along with a video overview after the jump.

cpu decoder 1cpu decoder 2

Brought to you by Intel, CPU Decoder brings out all the latest computer processors with full specs.  Details you can see include processor number, socket, cores/threads, clock speed, cache, and more.  You can select two at the same time and compare both specs side by side.  Yeah, I guess the app is targeted more towards geeks, but if you’re looking into building a new PC and are overwhelmed with all the processors out on the market, this is really handy in picking the one best for you.

CPU Decoder is free to download, and yes it’s OS 7 ready.  Click the link below to grab a free copy from BlackBerry App World or to check out more on it.
