Tag a song with Shazam, then buy it on 7Digital
by Otoniel Bruno
Before I get into the process let’s state the obvious terms. Shazam is an application that allows you to tag songs you’re listening to. When I say “tagging” I mean that you can be in a car or club listening to a good song you like, then you open Shazam up on your BlackBerry, and Shazam will tell you the name of the song, artist, album, etc. Pretty cool stuff. Shazam lets you tag up to 5 songs a month free, or you can grab the premium version for $5.99 which gives you unlimited tags.
Now 7Digital. 7Digital Music Store is the native music store app for the BlackBerry PlayBook currently, and has been out for BlackBerry smartphones for quite a while. It is a Super App in RIM’s eyes, so it is integrated with Universal Search and other applications.
Now that we got the terms out of the way, we can get into the whole Shazam and 7Digital relationship. When you tag a song on Shazam, you can purchase it within Shazam buy clicking the shopping cart button, where you’ll be rerouted to the 7Digital Music Store (if you have it installed). From there you can buy the track, or ringtone (if available). And that’s it. Easy as that!
