RIM: BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.0 will be launching after DevCon 2011
by Kal Chebli
We all hoped for the BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.0 to launch today since BlackBerry Bridge updated. There’s no relief for that happening any longer since RIM mentioned OS 2.0 will be launching “in coming months.” I assume we’ll see it a DevCon this year. Any way, OS 2.0 will include native email and other apps including BBM, Calendar, MemoPad, etc. Also we’ll be seeing Android Player, BlackBerry Video Store we just mentioned, and BlackBerry Balance! On the call Mike Lazaridis admits that the PlayBook is lacking applications (and quality of apps) but does mention that new applications including games, media, and productivity applications are on the way. along with the update. Also mentioned is that we’ll be seeing a lot of these features at DevCon next month. Now that is excitement.
