Now That Order Has Been Restored To BlackBerry Nation…

After this outage that cause many BlackBerry users to go throw withdrawals, and then quickly relapse back into their crackberry ways we can now return to our regular scheduled programming!

A lot of people had gained a bad taste in their mouth towards RIM, and their BlackBerry smartphone, because of the issue. This I can understand; not having the ability to get your information on the go, whether it was a tweet, a Facebook message, an email or a BBM. I mean come on to have the ability to stay connected while on the go with those who matters most is the reason we chose to use a BlackBerry Smartphone, regardless of the use (work, play or both). So the gripes, the complaining, the anger, and the impatiently waiting is all that we could do. The behavior is justified because we are a “please me now” society, and if we can’t get it now we through fits.

This outage was something that RIM definitely didn’t need on top of the other bad publicity and press they have been receiving lately. With news of the outage making interational news not only in the smartphone world or tech world, but making headlines news on FOX, ABC, CNN news, as well as The New York Times, and Huffington Post just to name a few larger news publications out there. It even became a worldwide trend on twitter  with the tag #Dear BlackBery.

The last 72 hours or so has been very tough on many BlackBerry users, and not just the consumer side, but for businesses as well. I know people had lots of concerns about what was going on with the outage because I received many phone calls, text messages, tweets, and even emails (yes you can still email without having your BlackBerry you just have to do it the “archaic” way and log onto a computer, which I recently discovered I could still do). I simply answered everyone with this quote:

“Technology is simply as good as the people who make it, and I have yet to meet a perfect person.”

Consumers and Analysts need to realize this, some do but many do not! This is where we get a lot of news skewed. I’m not sure if people realize but I remember using an android phone and couldn’t access data or android services, and if you tried to wipe your phone and log in you couldn’t so you had no access to a phone. Remember when AT&T has had outages and tower failures for a couple days across the United States, and it was an issue that has happened on multiple occasions receiving error messages on their Apple products. Anyone remember the T-Mobile Sidekick, when Microsoft decided to move all Sidekick users data from Danger servers to Microsoft’s newer robust server and it crashed and they lost almost of their consumers information. Finally, this isn’t the only outage that RIM has had. I remember one a couple years back, where RIM was suppose to perform maintenence and everything went down for a couple of days. Until we become perfect technology will have its glitches, and this will not be the last glitch we see from RIM or from any other mobile platform, wireless carrier, developer etc.

However, here are a few things that can be done to help crackberry users survive in case another apocalyptic event were to happen like the outages of October 2011. First and foremost get a BlackBerry PlayBook. With such a smaller device with you it makes it very easy to carry on the go. No need to carry a large bulky laptop with you, when you can carry your PlayBook with its nice 7 inch display and you can access your email through the web browser which has such a great feel, and easy to use. Stay on top of important events on Facebook with FaceBook for BlackBerry PlayBook, or keep up with the latest trends on twitter with the BlackBerry Twitter app or Blaq for BlackBerry PlayBook. With the powerful multi-tasking ability of the PlayBook you can switch back and forth between work and networking, and even gaming. Or hope on Video Chat and talk to friends, family or coworkers. Of course you can use the BlackBerry Bridge to access files on your smartphone that you may need to reference to, or even take advantage of File Commander for BlackBerry PlayBook that now packs BlackBerry Bridge support so it makes it easier to move files to and from your devices. Even take advantage of using SMS Bridge so you don’t have to stop what you are doing to respond to a text on your BlackBerry smartphone; it’s all one stop access on your PlayBook for you.  Also, make sure you have BlackBerry News for BlackBerry PlayBook so you can keep up with Pocketberry to find out when the outage has been resolved, or keep up with news from your favorite sites. You may also want to have an eReader on your BlackBerry PlayBook and there are a lot of eBooks that are available for the BlackBerry PlayBook.

I’ll leave you with the quote I left above:

“Technology is simply as good as the people who make it, and I have yet to meet a perfect person.”
