eternal legacy 1spiderman 1

Gameloft released two new hot games yesterday for the BlackBerry PlayBook.  The first one is Spider-Man: Total Mayhem which we’ve seen on other platforms in the past.  The game is awesome and we even got to get a little hands on with it yesterday at the BlackBerry DevCon party before grabbing a copy for ourselves.  The next is Eternal Legacy which looks to be a role playing game (RPG).  Reviews for both games are tip top so far.  Let us know if you grab either or!

thank you gift app world

For the BlackBerry Internet Service outage that occurred for a few days in the EMEA and about a day in the United States, RIM announced they would be giving out $100 worth of applications to all BlackBerry users started today.  The category in App World is titled “Thank You Gift,” but it’s obvious that this is the category set for the outage apps.  So far I only see DriveSafe.ly Pro on the list and obviously we are promised a bunch more.  Keep your eyes open for new applications that surface.

spotify mobile

We already have BBM Music as a closed beta at the moment and now Spotify has come along in releasing their BlackBerry client as a competitor.  It’s still in beta, but you can go ahead and download it from their site here over the air.  Now for the bad news – only the Bold 9780/9700/9000 and Curve 9300/8520 have been tested for the app.  Also, no love for CDMA users – only GSM!  For those who can check it out, let us know how it is.

At the BlackBerry DevCon keynote yesterday we were introduced to Cascades for developers to use for UI development in their applications.  RIM has posted up a nice clip demonstrating the power of Cascades and exemplify the power within applications that have used it.

Today RIM announced that Twitter for BlackBerry version 2.1 is now available to download in Beta Zone. Some really important features have been added to this update, but the most important feature of them all is the ability for multi-account support. Twitter for BlackBerry Beta 2.1 can now support up to five twitter accounts. When logged into multiple accounts, the current user name will appear in the upper-left corner of the header bar and the user picture will appear in the My Profile icon. Users can switch between accounts by using the Switch Account function, accessible from My Profile or via the Menu. Users can also cross-post Tweets and Retweets from one account to another without switching the current account view. Also, on this update there are additional profile functions so you can edit your personal information and easily change your photo. Check out the screenshots below.

There’s tons of game talk on the BlackBerry PlayBook.  We previously showed you the hands on for Tomb Raider on the BlackBerry PlayBook which was ported over from another platform.  RIM showed off Cut The Rope for BlackBerry PlayBook as well.  Cut The Rope is a very popular game from Rovio Mobile, makers of Angry Birds.  Seeing it on the PlayBook is a pretty big deal and created lots of excitement among us all during the keynote.  The game runs just as good as any other platform here.  No signs of it available yet, but we hope to see this hit the App World shelves soon!
