shazam logo

Shazam Encore is expected to be listed in the “Thank You GIft” section of BlackBerry App World in November.  It’s pretty awesome since Shazam is a very popular app and costs $4.99 for the Encore version which gives you unlimited song tagging.  Up until now we still don’t have OS 7 support for Shazam, so I’m hoping an update is rolled out soon so everyone can take advantage of the app rather than just some.

golf battle 1golf battle 2

Golf Battle 3D is a pretty big deal to see on the BlackBerry PlayBook.  The biggest reason is because it is available on other platforms including iOS, Android, Windows Phone 7, and Samsung Bada.  Golf Battle 3D has online game play so you can play against all of your friends on other platforms that have the game.  I’m hoping to see more cross platform games hit BlackBerry just like this.  As for the game, click the link below to read more on it.  It’s only 99 cents to buy which is of course great for a high quality 3D game.

inpulse allerta

Awesome! I just took my inPulse smartwatch out again to use, and realized that there’s a new update available with a lot of goodies.  Last time around, the smartwatch by Allerta was very much in beta, but now it seems a lot more stable with a bunch of really cool features.  Here’s the change log for BlackBerry:

  • Finally, working support for OS 7! Tested on BB 9900 and 9810. Our recommendation: Use your old OS5 or 6 Blackberry to load the latest firmware (3.9.4) onto your watch, then you can begin using inPulse with OS 7
  • Introducing the ability to download free watchapps right to your watch! Browse the inPulse app to see what is available
  • Be sure to update the firmware on your watch after downloading. Download Apps -> Default Notification App -> Load
  • If you happen to get your watch into a non-working state, you can always revert to factory firmware mode by holding the button down until the display says ‘loading…’

Previously we saw BlackBerry App World v3.0.1.28 in Beta Zone, and now RIM has pushed out v3.0.1.29 to everyone officially.  There’s no word on any change log and I can’t imagine it being much different from the .28 build that was in beta.  If you’re not prompted to update, you can download it manually by pointing your BlackBerry browser to blackberry.com/appworld.

I noticed on BlackBerry.com that RIM has filled up the whole front page with this new commercial clip they have called “The Incredible Powerful BlackBerry 7 OS.”  I guess we can all agree that the biggest push for the new line of BlackBerry devices is performance.  This new commercial is rather nicer than others we’ve seen in my opinion.  Let us know what you think.

WATERLOO, ONTARIO–(Marketwire – Oct. 25, 2011) - Research In Motion (RIM) (NASDAQ:RIMM)(TSX:RIM) today announced BlackBerry® Business Cloud Services for Microsoft Office 365 – a new RIM-hosted online service for midsized businesses and enterprises that extends Microsoft Exchange Online to BlackBerry® smartphones, and allows organizations to self-manage their BlackBerry deployments in the cloud. An open beta for the service is launching today in over 30 countries.

"BlackBerry Business Cloud Services is an easy and cost-effective way for businesses and government agencies to extend Microsoft Office 365 to BlackBerry smartphones and manage the deployment in the cloud," said Alan Panezic, Vice President at Research In Motion. Previously before DevCon which took place last week, I chatted with other BlackBerry enthusiasts on how BBM would work on the BlackBerry PlayBook.  I certainly don’t want to have two separate BBM lists (I’m sure many of you don’t either), and for that reason we came to the conclusion that it would all work flawlessly through BlackBerry ID.  According to a rumor from BGR, RIM is having issues with multi-device BBM at the moment which is resulting in OS 2.0 to launch mid-February.

It’s pretty disappointing to hear that especially since RIM promised it would be launched by the end of DevCon.  Instead we’ve been given a developer build of 2.0, missing core features that have been long waited for.  What are your thoughts?

The BlackBerry Torch 9810 was rumored to launch for T-Mobile which baffled us since we were under the assumption that AT&T had the device exclusively for a year.  This is the second time we see a the Torch 9810 surface in a T-Mobile system, which can only mean that it is indeed headed to the carrier.  Sadly there’s still no launch dates specified but we know it’s coming at least.
