At first it was open for questioning, and then more sources over at The Verge confirmed for the info to be true. This is the first BBX OS powered smartphone from RIM. At a quick glance it resembles the BlackBerry Porsche P’9981 with the whole shape and color of it. The codename is BlackBerry “London” and is expected to sport a dual core 1.5GHz processor, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of on board storage, 8MP rear camera, and 2MP front face camera. According to the leak, it’s expected to be thinner than the iPhone 4 and the same size about as the Samsung Galaxy II.
We should be expecting to see this device take off in the third quarter of 2012, and we seriously can’t wait to get our hands on it already. From what we’re seeing in the image, this OS resembles QNX as we know it on the PlayBook. The open tabs look very similar to PlayBook OS 2.0, with the title of the application underneath in a box, looking like actual tabs.

Last week we saw a “Themes” section opened up in BlackBerry App World for the PlayBook. Tonight I went back to check it out and it looks like the category has been removed as a whole. Now back at DevCon 2010, we learned that the PlayBook could not be themed. Last week the themes section of PlayBook’s App World showed some wallpaper applications so that’s where RIM was going with it. I guess it was a test they tried out temporarily since it’s gone now.
Should wallpaper apps be on its own tab? I strongly believe that eBooks should since they flood the “Newest” app category each and every day.

Spinballs comes in premium and a free lite edition as well on the BlackBerry PlayBook. Lite editions are always great since you pretty much get to try the app as long as you want before purchasing it. Some may not drift from lite editions either which is ok too. The idea of Spinballs is to connect balls of the same color by spinning the discs clockwise and counter clockwise. There’s no better way to get a good idea of the game other than actually trying it out.

For those still rocking OS 5 and OS 6 devices, you’re probably still taking advantage of themes available for your devices. Retro 80’s theme speaks for itself- it’s a theme focused around the 80’s bringing back retro colors and style to it. It’s really bright as you can see and the home screen brings your icons in a full circle around a cool design. Features include:
- Maximum Optimization to Prevent Memory Leaks.
- Bouncing Icon Dock.
- 7 icon Home Screen.
- Changeable app order.
- Wallpaper friendly.

Near Field Communication (NFC) is a feature we have yet to use on the latest BlackBerry devices which support it. We saw an application take off in the PocketBerry Store which used NFC, just may not have been useful for the average since it required additional hardware.
It looks like RIM is now reaching out to developers on opportunities available with NFC as they are starting to push it out on the BlackBerry DevBlog. They will be publishing various posts in the BlackBerry Developer Zone outlining benefits of implementing NFC in apps and technical sides to it as well. As a developer, do you see NFC tying in with your apps? Let us know!

Here’s an interesting video I came across on the BlackBerry YouTube channel called “The BBM Music Power 50.” To sum it up it shows music leaders from Australia together sharing their top five songs of all time. Together they created “BBM Music Power 50” which is a combination of all their favorite tracks. It’s an interesting video to watch which is all music but gooes in reference to BBM Music.
