Just hit the menu anywhere you are on your BlackBerry and you’ll find “Google Search” which will pop up in a small window when clicked. I don’t know about you but I use Google quite a bit through my day, and can only imagine most of you do as well. MenuSearch is free to download from the PocketBerry Store. And now that rumor is squashed. Months ago it was circulating around the web that the first QNX OS BlackBerry smartphones would not be compatible with BES. In an interview, Alec Saunders has said it’s not true and that the device will be capable of it right out the box.
Back at DevCon, we were told that all these games and apps coming for the PlayBook now will work on BBX smartphones later. We were never really told much about how it would all work or storage, but Saunders mentions in the interview that it will have all the features of the PlayBook including a 16:9 ratio and 1024-by-600 screen. When asked what the BBX phone operating system would look like, Saunders held up the PlayBook saying it’ll look just like that.

A small feature I noticed yesterday on the BlackBerry PlayBook was that if you’re viewing an email message, you can double tap the message to have it fill the screen and eliminate the side bar where all your email messages are listed. If you double tap again, the email message shrinks back to normal showing the side bar list of email messages. Try it out!

Are you an avid Reddit reader? Many of us are, and apps that cater to us and make it easier to indulge into Reddit are sweet. Reddit TV by OSBB Theme Studios brings an easy to use user interface for viewing all Reddit videos in a single application. If you check out the app, it looks sort of like the actual site but provides larger buttons, which is convenience when using touchscreen.
The app is a bit laggy, but if you want to be able to view all Reddit videos in a super easy to use UI, definitely check it out. Updates for this app will come I’m sure too.

AT&T is definitely throwing people off here. The all new BlackBerry Torch 9810 is referred to as the “BlackBerry Torch 4G” at AT&T, but shows H+ on the screen which stands for HSPA+. The AT&T BlackBerry Bold 9900 is also claimed to be “4G,” but is still titled the “BlackBerry Bold 9900” on the box rather than “BlackBerry Bold 4G.” On the screen it shows 4G as the connection and not H+. Confusing for some, but based on what AT&T told me which could be total BS, the Bold 9900 is 4G capable with AT&T’s real 4G bump up from HSPA+.

According to rumors from Ars Technica, one of the candidates interested in purchasing WebOS from HP is Research In Motion. It doesn’t seem like the best time for RIM to be acquiring any more companies or anything at all now as they are struggling with delays and their stocks are dropping more and more now. Also, Amazon is supposedly another company looking into purchasing WebOS as well. If the rumors come to be true, I’m wondering who will win the bidding war.

A very strange thing happened yesterday after purchasing my new BlackBerry Bold 9900 from AT&T. Across the top where the carrier name should be, I saw “Sim not allowed:3” show up, but my device was still working without WiFi or anything. Just a message that popped up and I thought my sim card was shot.
The solution? A simple reboot did the trick. No harm was done with the error message showing, but it was annoying seeing the fault. Maybe a later OS update eliminates this issue, hopefully.
