8bit theme

Still no love for OS 7 users, but there’s plenty of other BlackBerry users not on the new operating system which can still enjoy them! Here’s one called 8bit, which is of course based off of the old school Nintendo gaming system.  Features include:

  • Customizable icons on screen (5 for touchscreen devices, 6 for keyboard devices)
  • 5 fixed icons on bottom – left to right (manage connections, options, power off, profiles, search or Universal Search for OS6 devices)
  • No transitions
  • 8 bit icons to match the old school look
  • Wallpaper friendly

Best of all, it’s free to download! Click the link below to download a free copy today of 8bit from the PocketBerry Store.

Premium services aren’t for everyone, and even if they are it’s not necessarily always worth it.  BBM Music was a really fun beta application to test out for the last few months now.  The free fun is about to come to an end as RIM has rolled out its pricing plan to be $4.99 per month to use.

For me, I’ll end up keeping it as I have come to rely on it a lot for my music and have set different playlists on it which consists of my music along with other people’s music which might be my direct BBM contact or just added through the application.

That’s only my side and I’m sure many of you have your own opinions.  Will you be keeping BBM Music services after the trial expires? Let us know in the comments and tweet us!

It’s been a while since we’ve seen anything from Opera as far as mobile web browsing goes.  It was definitely a good browser to equip back in the day before the native BlackBerry web browser took a huge jump ahead.  Either way, it’s still a good application and v6.5 gives you lowers the memory used with better network performance and even a counter for your data consumption for those who are on limited data plans.  Click the link below to download.

att-blackberry-bold-9900-box-sm

It’s a dream come true for many seeing AT&T announced the BlackBerry Bold 9900 with a launch date at last.  Furthermore, it’s a bigger tease to see the device in the flesh only a couple days before launch date.  The folks over at CrackBerry received an image of an AT&T branded Bold 9900 with its retail packaging next to it.

For those who missed the announcement, the BlackBerry Bold 9900 will be offered at all AT&T stores on November 6th for $199.99 on a 2-year contract.

We already got the word from RIM that they are having issues with BlackBerry Theme Studio working properly on OS 7 devices.  There was no turnaround time given out publicly, but CIO got some inside info which indicates the launch date will be sometime in mid 2012.  Not the best news theme builders want to hear of course.

It’s interesting to see that the BlackBerry Porsche P’9981 uses another theme other than the stock one that comes out the box.  According to RIM, they have an internal theme building tool which they used to develop the custom Porsche theme for the P’9981.  Of course this tool is not available for the public yet and as mentioned earlier will be sometime in the spring season.

We got the word from the folks at Tether that they have dropped down their price to $29.99, rather than $49.99.  This price is expected to be for good, and not as a promotional one.  For those who just bough it recently at the higher premium, I feel your pain.  Either way, some of you held out on purchasing Tether due to the high price, so now you get 20 bucks off.  It looks like Tether has also updated to click the link below to grab the update or to purchase a copy at the new lower premium.
