Malaysia – Research In Motion (RIM) (NASDAQ: RIMM; TSX: RIM) today announced that the BlackBerry® Bold™ 9790 and BlackBerry® Curve™ 9380 smartphones will be available early December 2011 through BlackBerry authorized partners in Malaysia.

Nick Horton, Vice President, Indochina at RIM said: “We are excited to launch these two new BlackBerry 7 smartphones in Malaysia. The BlackBerry Curve 9380 has made its way to Telus in an official launch yesterday.  Folks in the region can expect to pay $49 on a 3 year, $269 on a 2 year, $319 on a 1 year, and $369 outright with no contract.  The Curve 9380 is the first touchscreen device in the Curve family.  It brings out basic specs, but far better than Curves we’ve seen in the past.  You get 800MHz, 480 x 360 screen resolution, NFC, and a 5MP camera.  Click the link below to check out more on the device at Telus.

Poynt for BlackBerry PlayBook got a small update to version 1.3.1.  Luckily we have a change log so you don’t have to go digging to see what’s new.  In this version we see changed directions to use Bing Maps and general bug fixes.  The update is available in BlackBerry App World.  Click the link to get redirected to Poynt for BlackBerry PlayBook.

Aside from the PlayBook 2.0 beta OS updates we’ve been seeing, the official build got an update as well today.  This one’s version 1.0.8.4895.  Included in this update is:

• Updated version of Adobe® Flash® Player version 11.1 and Adobe AIR® 3.1
• Daylight savings time updates for time zones in the regions of Latin America, Australia and Central America
• Updated Bluetooth® and Wi-Fi® software to help to improve connectivity
• Fixed issues some users were experiencing with account payments in the BlackBerry App World™ storefront
• Improved synching when restoring applications with BlackBerry Desktop Software

To download the update, head over to the Software Updates tab in Options of your BlackBerry PlayBook and begin downloading! The file is 95MB only, so it shouldn’t take long to update on a fair WiFi connection.

As you already know, BlackBerry is a pretty big deal in Indonesia.  We got to see some proof in videos posted recently which showed citizens of the region camping outside the store for a new BlackBerry smartphone.  In this clip we get to see a quick tour of Indonesia’s first BlackBerry Lifestyle store, which apparently is going to branch out as RIM opens multiple locations in the region.

IM+ for BlackBerry got an update earlier to version 9.2.  The change log is brief but sweet.  Now SHAPE has implented BlackBerry push support at last! Adding push services calls for better battery life so your BlackBerry isn’t consistently refreshing every so often looking for fresh content.  Push delivers it as it comes!  Here’s the full change log:

Lots of updates from RIM today including BlackBerry Traffic, then Twitter, and now BlackBerry App World itself. The new version is 3.0.2.7, but there doesn’t seem to be a change log of any kind. To download, head over to BlackBerry App World from your BlackBerry where you should be prompted to update. Sometimes a reboot helps!
