Starting tomorrow at 12PM, Skype will turn on the switch for their free WiFi services for a full 24 hours. Most of New York City will be covered, but here’s the specific areas you can pick up a signal from: Times Square, West Village, East Village, South Village, Greenwich Village, NoHo, SoHo, Lowe East Side, Clinton, Chelsea, Union Square, Midtown, Midtown South, Murray Hill, Stuyvesant Park and Turtle Bay.
So if you’re headed to NY this New Year’s Eve, bring your BlackBerry PlayBook along, video chat with your buddies live on the scene. Or just connect any of your WiFi devices (iPads, smartphones, etc).

I’m so lucky I’m your BlackBerry!
You hold me with both hands gently as u could be.
You ensure that I am always with you.
If I fall you are afraid of my injury.
I always have your undivided attention, you get upset if others disturb our time together.
U can never forget me in a taxi & u won’t let me go unlike my old friends nokia, sony and sammy that u would proudly just hand over.
When u eat, I’m beside u. When u r on the toilet, I’m with u. When u are asleep! my head is by ur pillow. (more…)

There’s no better way to explain this than classifying it as those “choose your own adventure” games where you pick what’s ahead in story. The BlackBerry Bold 9900 will go through an adventure as well, where you make choices which destine the next move. It’s all in a YouTube video, not sure how it’ll work on mobiles, but if your browsing on your desktop, you’ll be able to navigate through.

While navigating through new applications for BlackBerry smartphones in App World, I noticed HootSuite has made its debut officially now, where the application is no longer in beta. HootSuite is a free Twitter application for BlackBerry. So if you don’t want SocialScope or the official Twitter for BlackBerry app, here’s another free alternative.

I’ve been curious to see where RIM would go with its next generation model numbers since we’ve reached numbers as high as 9930 and 9981. According to the system for Asurion which is a company that insures mobiles, a BlackBerry Torch 10000 for AT&T is listed. This device could and SHOULD be the new QNX (BlackBerry 10) enabled BlackBerry smartphone It looks like RIM is going with 5 digit model numbers now instead of the 4 since they ran out. This is interesting.

A couple weeks ago Allerta updated their inPulse Smartwatch application for BlackBerry smartphones. At first, OS 7 was a bit flakey on it, but now it looks to be working better than ever. In version 3.6.7, support is a lot more flawless and the application itself got a whole new redesign. Everything has fallen into categories now, rather than having menus and options all over the place. Before you could send a test email, test phone call, bbm, etc. Really was no need for all that so it’s been eliminated to a single test message option.
The App Store remains to be live, with categories including Watchfaces, Applications and Games. If you haven’t downloaded the update, click here to grab it. If you don’t have an inPulse Smartwatch yet, you need to grab one here!
