Gameloft has quite a few good games available for the BlackBerry PlayBook. It looks like some of their titles are on sale now for a limited time. Not sure how long, but it’s best to grab them while the prices are down.

It’s not like RIM has nothing on its plate now. So far the company has had a terrible year which is close to coming to an end and hopefully will bloom into a better 2012. First RIM had to change “BBX” to “BlackBerry 10” due to copyright infringement, and now the “BBM” trademark is next. A company called BBM Canada is complaining that they keep receiving calls and emails from BlackBerry customers in regards to BBM issues and general inquiries.
According to The Globe and Mail, RIM was contacted by BBM Canada several times on the matter but they have been ignored, so a court hearing has been scheduled for January 11, 2012. Now we wait to see what happens. What’s next?

Earlier this morning, claims that BlackBerry 10 was delayed due to the product not being ready have been shut down as RIM counterclaims otherwise. Here’s what they told AllThingsD today:
“RIM made a strategic decision to launch BlackBerry 10 devices with a new, LTE-based dual core chip set architecture. As explained on our earnings call, the broad engineering impact of this decision and certain other factors significantly influenced the anticipated timing for the BlackBerry 10 devices. The anonymous claim suggesting otherwise is inaccurate and uninformed. As RIM has previously explained, and as Mike Lazaridis reiterated on the earnings call, we will not launch BlackBerry 10 devices until we know they are ready and we believe this new chip set architecture is required to deliver the world class user experience that our customers will expect. Any suggestion to the contrary is simply false.”
So one side says RIM is delaying due to BlackBerry 10 OS not being ready, while RIM themselves say it is indeed due to the chip set not being ready until then. Who do you believe?

Hey this commercial looks familiar doesn’t it? A few weeks ago we saw the same “Night Bikes” commercial, but was for the BlackBerry Curve 9350/9360/9370. This time around it’s the same exact commercial except a Bold 9900/9930 is the device being used instead. Slick.

Scrapbook for BlackBerry PlayBook updated today to version 2.0.0.2. The biggest feature I see in this build is the content packs. This feature enables you to download new stuff to paste right in the Scrapbook application itself. The next new feature on the change log is BlackBerry Bridge. You can now download Scrapbook Content Packs and connect to Facebook through BlackBerry Bridge. So basically that WiFi connection isn’t a requirement as long as you’re bridged. Head over to BlackBerry App World for the official update.

There was a beta out for users in Canada a few days ago, but now that’s over and users all over can download version 1.1.0.12. Although this update doesn’t include a change log, we a have an idea of what to expect based on the beta that was released a few days ago.
Payment Enhancements
- Ability to Request a Gift – Users can ask their BBM Contacts for a subscription to BBM Music.
- Added Notifications – Splat notifications to continue free trials and prior to first subscription charge
- Integration with BBM ‘Show what I’m listening to’ – Playing songs in BBM Music will update BBM Status if ‘Show what I’m listening to’ is selected within BBM (Requires BBM 6.1)

The Moron Challenge became a popular franchise on the BlackBerry PlayBook and later launched for smartphones as well. It looks likes Part 3 has officially launched yesterday and is available in BlackBerry App World. This one’s Christmas themed with the holiday season here already. I can’t imagine how much more puzzles and obstacles are in this one but if any of you are curious, the app is only 99 cents to buy.

Whether you want to test your typing skills or increase them, Typing Challenge for BlackBerry PlayBook is good in both departments. The idea here is to pretty much compete with yourself on typing words under the clock to score more points. Of course if you’re competitive enough, this free game/app will have you going for a while until you get the high score you feel you deserve. Check it out for free at BlackBerry App World.

A few months back we noticed a Themes category surface in BlackBerry App World for the BlackBerry PlayBook. A few days ago, I noticed the category was back again. The only sub category in the Themes tab is “Holiday” and includes an app called “Christmas Tunes.” Not sure where they’re going with this one, but it definitely is a bit confusing and seems unnecessary as of now.
