A new update for Citrix Receiver for the BlackBerry PlayBook updated this morning to version 1.0.  The app itself has been out for several months, but was a public beta for everyone to check out.  From the look of it, this seems to be the first final release, hence version 1.0.  Any way, here’s the full change log:

  • ICA encryption (SecureICA) and SSL, to secure communications between user devices and XenApp and XenDesktop
  • Windows Extended keyboard, including keys such as Ctrl, Alt, and Delete
  • Pan, pinch, and zoom
  • Session roaming between Receiver for PlayBook and other Receivers

The update is available in BlackBerry App World.  It appears the application is still free and so is the update.  Click the link below to get redirected to Citrix Receiver in BlackBerry App World, or search for it on your tablet.

So Research In Motion is facing a lot of public negativity now with the delays of BlackBerry 10 smartphones.   This cartoon by The Joy of Tech pokes at the idea that RIM’s BlackBerry devices are outdated and that there is no future for them.  It’s a funny cartoon though but we still want our BB10 devices!

BlackBerry Bridge got a small update from version 1.0.7.4 to 1.0.7.5 today, which addressed a single bug.  The issue some people were having before was that the add a new tablet function would not appear or work on some devices.  That seems to be the only fix.  Once upon a time we received Bridge updates when a new OS would be releasing but this doesn’t seem to be the case here.
