UPDATE: Thanks everyone who submitted the news tip! It looks like this “small update” consists of deleted default applications.  We’ve seen this in the past with OS 1.0 when email provider shortcuts were deleted.  Big thanks to everyone who updated us!

This is the first update we received since the launch of BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.0.  This one is OS 2.0.0.7971 just as we saw previously.  The update is 44MB in size, so we’re really not sure what it could consist of exactly.  Unfortunately there is no change log here, but we’ll leave it up to the community to figure out what’s new! Perhaps it’s mainly bug fixes and things of that nature- but there could always be new features discovered.  Any way, to update the OS go to Software Update in Options.

Could this just be an update consisting of deleted apps? True OS updates always have a change in numbers. I know that if certain apps are deleted, sometimes it’ll prompt a small update. If I don’t have it by the morning, I’ll assume that is what it is.

Are you sure it’s an update?  Sometimes a bundled app gets inadvertently deleted and automatically triggers an “update” which turns out to merely be a reinstall of the deleted app.

Sorry I didn’t see the first comment.

They changed that. It used be that when you deleted an app that it came with, the playbook would say there is an update for your OS. So this must have updated something. I have been having issues with my browser so hopefully it was a fix for that but who knows.

Wednesday morning and still no update seen, but I really didn’t think I would. I’d like the OP to chime in and reaffirm or correct his/her post.

I will also say that if there had been any kind of an update, CB, BBE, BR and others would have been on this like a hobo on a ham sandwich.

Well, Pocketberry?!? What’s up with this?!?
