Ok so you’re not exactly ready to go beta with yesterday’s OS 7.1 leak for the BlackBerry Bold 9790. Perhaps you want a stable official operating system. Orange UK released OS 7.0.0.611 for the BlackBerry Bold 9790 yesterday, so you can download that alternatively if you want the latest and greatest.

When I first installed BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.0 Beta, I opened up Falling Fred to play and noticed the game crashed every time right before entering actual game play. Then enough apps weren’t working at the time that drove me to restoring back to an official PlayBook operating system. I noticed that Falling Fred and a few other games by Union have updated today. With this update, the games started working on PlayBook OS 2.0 as I have that installed on my second PlayBook. This can only mean BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.0 is officially rolling out soon, at last!

Something I’ve been needing for the BlackBerry PlayBook was a solid remote desktop application which was smooth in operating and didn’t lag so much like most applications do. I found Splashtop Remote Desktop HD for the BlackBerry PlayBook which provided just that. Setup for it was a breeze and functionality was great. Also, it’s compatible with both PC and Mac so it’s good for everyone (just about). Splashtop Remote Desktop HD is also on sale for a limited time for only $4.99 as the regular price will be $19.99 once the promotion is over. Click the link below for more information or to grab a copy.

The BlackBerry Bold 9900 just got a second leak for OS 7.1. Back in November we saw an earlier release, but it was really buggy and didn’t work too well for many users- other than the fact that you could use the Mobile Hotspot feature. Here’s hoping to a more stable build! Download and install at your own risk of course.

AT&T is known for releasing OS updates pretty late. That’s why this one comes up as a shocker since it is an updated build. The BlackBerry Torch 9810 got an official update to day from AT&T to OS 7.0.0.583. Most folks are crazed over OS 7.1 now, especially since Sprint customers received the update officially for BlackBerry 7 devices. In the meantime, a stable OS is still good to have.
It doesn’t look like the update is available on BlackBerry’s OS page yet but keep your eye open. If you’re an AT&T customer, you can check it out in Wireless Update.

The next biggest thing from Research In Motion is BlackBerry 10 OS. That’s the next operating system the company is launching which will be on BlackBerry smartphones in the future and the BlackBerry PlayBook. Pocket-lint has reported that RIM told them OS 10 will be displayed at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. It was expected to be later 2012, so we’re a bit thrown off by the early showing.
A spokesperson from RIM sayd "2012 will be the year of BlackBerry 10 so we’ll be showcasing the capabilities of our future operating system as well demonstrating the power of BlackBerry 7, with a particular focus on NFC and BBM connected apps. Research In Motion will be there in force."
It is unclear, however, whether the company will have a new BlackBerry OS 10 powered handset at the show in Barcelona.
